7.09.25 – APFA CLT Base Brief – 787-9P Minimum Crew- Take ACTION Today!

787-9P Minimum Crew – Take ACTION Today!
Wednesday, July 9, 2025
Last week, APFA National President Julie Hedrick sent a letter to American Airlines CEO Robert Isom and Vice President of Safety and Regulatory Compliance Cedric Wilson expressing your concerns regarding the reduction in minimum crew on the new 787-9P aircraft from eight (8) Flight Attendants to seven (7) Flight Attendants.
In the event of an emergency, a single Flight Attendant at the rear of the aircraft would be solely responsible for managing the evacuation of hundreds of passengers across two aisles, with emergency exits located on opposite sides of the aircraft.
Where will the widebody minimum crew cuts stop and still be considered safe?Â
Every Flight Attendant should participate in this call to action. Whether you’ve been a Flight Attendant for forty years, or you are in the early stages of your career, continued reductions in minimum crew affect everyone. Send your message today by clicking on the image below, and stay tuned for further calls to action!
Send your message to management telling them to prioritize passenger and crew safety by keeping minimum staffing at one Flight Attendant for every widebody door!
