11.08.25 – APFA BOS Base Brief – December 2025 Staffing and Allocations

December 2025 BOS Staffing and Allocations
Saturday, November 8, 2025
Hello Boston!
The monthly staffing and allocations call for December 2025 took place on the 3rd and here are the highlights.
Total headcount for the BOS Domicile has dipped slightly to 826 (including inactive FAs).Total available headcount is 804. We are not receiving any new-hires for DEC; with that in mind, our projected reserve numbers are not expected to change.

December continues our holiday season and winter flying.
Our flying hours for December are down slightly at 48,787, a minor decrease from last month. This number is still an approximate 11% increase from December of 2024. Our reserve percentage climbs to 16.4% to account for the holiday period. We are expecting 132 flight attendants to serve reserve in the December bid month. That is a 4.5% increase in reserve numbers, a total of 36 additional. While that number has increased, it is a pretty standard increase to account for the holiday flying operation of December. December 2025 only has four (4) additional reserves scheduled vs December of 2024.
There will be no VLOA offered for December.
The sequence construction breakdown for October is as follows:
- Our LAX transcon flights continue the usual morning two-day and red-eye three-day operation for most of the month.
- LHR will operate the same sequence daily for the entire month of December. There is no flying pause over Christmas.
- The PHX rocket will operate 15 times throughout the month.
- There are no ODAN’s in the bid packet for December.
- We did not see any charters or domestic wide-body flying in the bid packet for December.
With winter time upon us, there is a significant increase in our NIPD flying hours for the month of December. Our winter time Cancun flight returns on Saturdays for the December month plus, daily CUN turns from the 18th to the end of the month.
Boston also begins daily service to MCO in December. Most of these flights are scheduled and built as MCO turns. When the MCO flight was first announced months ago, the scheduled times did not show they could be built as a turn. The allocations team at HQ stated they have been working with network planning to adjust flight times across the operation to make flying more efficient. It is our understanding that the MCO flights were adjusted and now allow for turn operations.
We also see increased daily PUJ operations out of Boston. This is an increase over our usual Saturday PUJ flying that we have grown accustomed to in the winter time. There is scheduled, near daily service, to and from PUJ for the second half of the month. We did not see any turns in the bid packet. Rather, these flights are built into the beginning or end of sequences.

Of our 3 day sequences, 6% are sequences with two duty periods such as LHR, 24+ hour layovers, or two-day trips with releases after midnight.
We know our 3-day percentage remains high. We are told by allocations we should expect relief with the post holiday flying draw-down in January. We received the December bid packet two days later than usual. We appreciate everybody’s patience in receiving the bid-sheet breakdown.
