11.13.25 – APFA PHL Base Brief – Remembering Amadou Thiam

Remembering Amadou Thiam
Thursday, November 13, 2025
PHL Friends,
Yesterday, we received the tragic news of the sudden loss of our dear colleague, Amadou Thiam.

As we prepared to write this communication for our base, we struggled to make sense of the senseless. Instead, we are choosing to share what you, his friends and co-workers, have said about this remarkable man.
“He represented what is right in this world.”
“A kind and bright light.”
“He embodied kindness and joy.”
“A sweet soul.”
“A wonderful man.”
“An absolute light whose laughter was contagious.”
“He was an extraordinary individual who touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, love, and generosity.”
These reflections are just a glimpse of how Amadou impacted the lives of those around him. He began his flying career in 2011, and his professionalism, warm smile, and kindness were recognized by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
We will provide information on arrangements and where to send condolences shortly. EAP services will be available in the A-West Crew Room. Our deepest condolences go out to Amadou’s family, friends, and fellow flying partners.
PHL STRONG! PHL PROUD!
In Solidarity,
Your PHL APFA Leadership
