Month in Review – Your MIA Base Reps at Work

Reserve Reminders
On October 1st, the company discontinued the practice of making “courtesy calls” when Reserve Flight Attendants do not electronically acknowledge ROTA and ROTD assignments when required. As a result, we have seen a dramatic increase in missed trips.
LOA to Remove TMs for Impacted Reserves
Importing Goods into Foreign Countries
Many countries where we travel have restrictions on imported goods and products that they may deem are for potential resale. There is duty required to be paid if the items you have are of a certain value.
Be cautious if you are traveling with gifts for Christmas, even if you are not intending to import these items into the country you are flying into, as they can still be construed to be a violation of the duty allotments. They could be seized, or you may be required to pay a duty.
Brazil has recently been conducting thorough searches of crew luggage, including body pat downs, looking for expensive items such as electronics. They take importation of items subject to duty very seriously.
Use caution when traveling with gifts, electronics, or other high value items. Even clothing has been deemed subject to duty in some countries.
TM on Reserve, Convert to LR
If you receive a TM on reserve, you can convert it to a LR if you stay on your RAP and fly another trip. Scheduling does not necessarily offer this to you. You must call them and request to stay on your RAP.
If you stay on RAP and fly another assignment during that RAP, the TM will be changed to an LR. Send an email to your crew attendance manager.
CERS and Teams Reporting
CERS reports are important to fill out when anything out of ordinary happens on the airplane. These reports are extremely helpful in investigations as they are timely documentation of onboard events.
The Teams feature in the MyFlight app is a valuable tool to use before and during boarding to document bag issues, passenger problems, catering, etc. It documents timestamps that are helpful if problems arise. It is not a tattle tale line against other employees, as we don’t want that done to us either.
Inflight Quarterly Training 4Q2025

Monthly Bidsheet Feedback Form
As part of our efforts to improve the bidsheet and better understand your preferences, we are have a Monthly Bidsheet Feedback Form.
Click here to access the Monthly Bidsheet Feedback Form
This form is designed to collect your input on the bidsheet each month—what’s working well, what could be improved, and any specific suggestions you may have. Your feedback is invaluable and will help us make requests to the Company about the future sequences for MIA. The form is short, easy to complete, and should take no more than a few minutes of your time.
Please keep sending in your forms. They provide valuable information to us.
Notice of Dispute (NOD) Filing Request Form
A Notice of Dispute (NOD) is defined as a dispute between a Flight Attendant(s) and the Company involving any action of the Company affecting the Flight Attendant. The NOD can refer to contract violations, company policy, disciplinary actions, pay discrepancy issues, or other workplace concerns. In these cases, you may have the option to file a NOD.
We have created a new APFA Notice of Dispute (NOD) Filing Request Form. Please note that completing this form does not officially file a NOD. Use this form if you would like a Base Representative to review your case for a potential NOD. Your information will be forwarded to your APFA Base Union Representative for evaluation.
Please include any steps you have already taken with your Crew Manager and the outcomes of those discussions. Contact your Crew Manager before submitting this form.
Once your form is received, the Base Representative will review it and contact you to evaluate your case to consider filing a NOD.
- Step 1 – APFA Base Representative files a Notice of Dispute (NOD) with their Crew Manager, Crew Attendance/Performance Manager, on behalf of the Flight Attendant.
- APFA Rep will begin Informal discussions with Management to try and resolve the dispute.
- If those discussions are successful, the NOD is resolved with a settlement.
- If no resolution is reached, a Dispute Resolution Conference is scheduled.
- Step 2 – Dispute Resolution Conference (DRC)
- The Base Representative will schedule the DRC with local management. This meeting is for the Flight Attendant and the APFA Rep to present the case.
- If an agreement is reached, the NOD will be considered resolved with a settlement.
- If the parties are unable to resolve the issue following the DRC, the NOD may be submitted to the Grievance Determination Conference.
- Step 3 – If no settlement is reached at the DRC, the case leaves the Base and moves forward to the Regional Representative and the System Board of Adjustment (SBA), where it will be reviewed. If you’d like more details on the entire process, please see the links below.

Professional Standards and EAP
Professional Standards and EAP calls now go through the hotline at 833.214.2002.
Please use Professional Standards for issues that can’t be resolved on the airplane. Keep it out of the office.
If you need to speak with Professional Standards mid-sequence to keep a situation from escalating, please call. If a dispute arises mid-sequence that cannot be resolved and a crew member removes themselves from the trip, Inflight becomes involved and an investigation ensues. This is what we always hope to avoid.
Have a safe and happy holiday season.
In Solidarity,
Nick & Alba
