12.26.25 – APFA DFW Base Brief – DFW Hub Updates

Hello DFW Flight Attendants,

Beginning in April 2026, DFW will implement structural scheduling changes that will directly impact how we work on the line. From a labor perspective, these changes are significant because they are intended to improve schedule predictability, reduce operational congestion, and strengthen recovery during irregular operations.

The most notable change is DFW’s transition from a nine-bank schedule to a 13-bank structure. Spreading flights more evenly across the day is expected to reduce extreme peak periods, ease gate congestion, and create more consistent connections. For Flight Attendants, this directly affects duty days, legality, and fatigue.

This new structure is also designed to improve resilience during weather events and other disruptions. DFW regularly experiences thunderstorms that can halt operations entirely. When flying resumes, this schedule is intended to allow the operation to restart more efficiently, reducing prolonged delays, diversions, and crew displacement.

Additional investments in remote deplaning capability are expected to further limit unnecessary diversions away from DFW, helping keep crews closer to base and supporting quicker operational recovery.

While these changes show potential to improve day-to-day operations, we will continue to monitor their implementation closely. Our priority remains ensuring that Flight Attendant contractual protections are upheld, safety is never compromised, and quality-of-life improvements are realized in practice—not just on paper.
