1.03.26 – APFA DFW Base Brief – Caribbean Cancellations

We want to make you aware of an overnight operational event impacting several flights and crews. Luis and I are closely monitoring the situation.

Late last night, reports of explosions in Caracas, Venezuela prompted the FAA to issue temporary airspace restrictions affecting several Caribbean Flight Information Regions (FIRs).
American Airlines already has standing restrictions in place for the affected area, with additional cautionary guidance issued in December.
Flights systemwide have been impacted and are being managed individually by IOC through dispatcher coordination.
Affected crewmembers are being supported, including hotel accommodations extended as needed.
Operational impacts to flights operating to, from, or through the region on January 3 continue to be assessed.
