Caribbean Cancellations Due to FAA Restrictions and Escalation in Venezuela
Saturday, January 3, 2026
Reports of explosions in Caracas, Venezuela, have prompted the FAA to issue temporary airspace restrictions affecting several Caribbean flight routes.
American Airlines had already implemented restrictions for the affected area, and additional precautionary guidance was issued in December. As a result, flights across the system have been impacted, with each situation being managed individually by the IOC in coordination with dispatchers.
Affected crew members are receiving support, including extended hotel accommodations when necessary. We are continually assessing the operational impacts on flights traveling to, from, or through the region on January 3. We will closely monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
