We are coming up on one year since the tragic loss of American Airlines/ PSA Flight 5342.

On behalf of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) and the DCA base, we pause together to remember the passengers and crew members whose lives were lost, and to hold close the families, friends, and loved ones who continue to grieve this unimaginable tragedy.

As Flight Attendants, we are bound by a deep sense of family—one that extends beyond bases, uniforms, and flight numbers. The passage of time does not diminish the weight of this loss, and anniversaries such as this can be especially difficult. We recognize the enduring pain felt by those left behind and honor the strength it takes to carry forward while holding such profound sorrow.

Today, we stand in solidarity and remembrance. We honor each life with respect and compassion, and we reaffirm our commitment to supporting one another, especially in moments of grief.

May the memories of those we lost be a lasting reminder of the importance of care, connection, and community. They will not be forgotten.
