2.05.26 – APFA BOS Base Brief – March 2026 Staffing and Allocations

Thursday, February 5, 2026

Hello Boston!

The monthly staffing and allocations call for March 2026 took place on the 3rd and here are the highlights.

Total headcount for the BOS Domicile has increased slightly to 828 (including inactive FA’s.) Total active headcount is up to 800.

Training is back in full swing down at HQ! The current plan is to have just over 2,000 new-hire Flight Attendants in the system by the end of May! Boston is expecting 22 from the first group by the end of March. Please be sure to give them a warm welcome as always! Reserve numbers are not expected to change as they will be getting a set schedule out of training for March.

Our flying hours for March have increased significantly to 51,367, an about 6.5% increase over the FEB bid month. This number is also a near 9% increase from the same month last year. Our reserve percentage drops to 13.5%, a 0.4% decrease from the prior month, and a 1% decrease year-over-year. Thank you! There will be 108 flight attendants serving reserve in Boston for the March month. A decrease of 2 from the month prior, and an increase of 4 from the year prior, as is expected with a higher headcount.

There will be no VLOA offered in March.

The sequence construction breakdown is as follows:

  • Boston will staff a morning two-day and red-eye three-day LAX transcon operation consistently throughout the month. We will also staff a 3rd daily sequence for a majority of March with a 13-hour layover, and later report/ release times. Please note! The flight times shift a few times throughout the month, and with many on-off sequences, report and release times may vary.
  • LHR will operate throughout the month. There are slight variables in report and release times. The layover remains consistent at 28.45 for a majority of the month, and then drops to 25.15 at the end of the month as we begin the changeover to an earlier departure from LHR for the months moving forward.
  • The PHX rocket returns, and will operate almost every day in March.
  • There are no ODAN’s in the bid packet for March.
  • We saw no charter sequences in the bid packet.
  • There are no domestic wide-body sequences in March.

The sequence construction is as follows:

Of our 3-day sequences, 9.5% are 2 duty period trips such as LHR, LAX red-eyes, and many sequences that release after midnight. While our 1-day trips have decreased slightly, we are pleased to see a large reduction in our 3-day/3 duty-period trips.
