2.10.26 – APFA DFW Base Brief – Commuter Notice Update

Commuter Notice Update
Tuesday, February 10, 2026
Dear DFW Flight Attendants,
As implementation of our Collective Bargaining Agreement continues, management has rolled out a new feature within the Electronic Communication System (ECS) that impacts commuters. While tools and processes may change, your contractual rights and protections remain unchanged.
Under CBA 37.I.3.b, Flight Attendants who are unable to commute to base must notify Crew Scheduling as soon as possible prior to scheduled check-in. Management now allows this notification to be made through ECS in lieu of calling, in certain circumstances.
Important reminders — you must still CALL Crew Scheduling if you are:
- Unable to commute on the alternate DHD you selected
- Going to be late for sign-in
ECS notification process (step-by-step):
- Select Contact AA in ECS, then choose Unable to Commute
- ECS will auto select your next sequence, or for Reserves, your next RAP, sequence, or standby
- Select Report Unable to Commute
- Tap Confirm, after which Crew Scheduling will complete your removal
APFA continues to closely monitor implementation to ensure management’s processes align with the CBA and do not undermine Flight Attendant protections. If you experience errors, denials, or inconsistencies, document everything and contact your Base Representatives immediately.
Your Contract. Your Rights. Your Union.
Respectfully,
Robin Reitz
