2.20.26 – APFA PHX Base Brief – Phoenix Employee Parking Program Update

Phoenix Employee Parking Program Update
Friday, February 20, 2026
We have an important update regarding the Employee Discount Program changes scheduled to begin on March 1, 2026. Negotiations are still ongoing to finalize the future structure of the Employee Discount Program. To give everyone more time to consider alternatives and develop a thoughtful plan that best meets our needs, the city will defer any adjustments to the discount rate until March 30th.
In the meantime, due to the increased public parking demand during Spring Break, the first blackout dates will be implemented. From March 4, 2026, to March 23, 2026, discounted rates will not be applicable.

A significant change to the program will take effect on April 1, 2026. The employee parking discount will only be available through your issued parking proxy card. Until March 30, 2026, you can continue to show your airline ID at the parking gates for the employee discount. After this date, you will need to swipe your parking card upon both entry and exit. If you have not signed up for a designated parking lot or do not have a parking card, please reach out to Lona Hart, the Inflight Employee Parking Coordinator at American Airlines.
Non-domiciled employees are encouraged to enroll in the Airline Corporate Parking Program for discounted parking, which will be available starting March 1, 2026. However, non-domiciled employees may still utilize the current discount program during March when blackout dates are not in effect.
As a reminder, employee discount parking is strictly for official business and cannot be used for personal travel. This policy has been in place for the employee parking program, but it has not been clearly communicated in the past.
In our previous message, we stated that our Crew Union Coalition’s goals include:
- Halting the proposed changes while we gather facts.
- Ensuring transparency regarding the statistics driving these changes.
- Collaborating to find a solution that meets the city’s needs while honoring our loyalty to PHX Airport.
- Improving the current employee parking lots.
- Maintaining ongoing collaboration with labor unions and the Aviation Department regarding parking safety, security, and economics.
The Aviation Director has committed to all the above goals and is dedicated to finding the best solutions for all stakeholders.

You can find answers to the most common questions in the FAQ below. If you have further questions, feel free to send them to [email protected].
We will communicate any updates or changes to you promptly.

Q1: I saw a sign at my employee lot about rate changes. Will I have to pay to park in my employee lot?
A1:Â No, you will continue to park free of charge in your designated lot (44th Street or West Economy uncovered). The posted rate changes are meant for employees who choose to park in Premium Public Airport Parking Lots.
Q2: Has the city provided data to justify the number of blackout dates?
A2: Yes, the city has been transparent with their parking data and has committed to reviewing these numbers with us in the future to allow for as many discounted dates as possible.
Q3: I do not feel safe going to my car in the employee lot at night. How is the city addressing this?
A3:Â Personal escorts to vehicles for employees are available upon request. You can contact the security guard at the vehicle lot entrance or call Ace Parking at (602) 273-3302. The Ace Circulator Shuttle is also available to drop off employees at their vehicles upon request during non-peak hours. Additionally, the city has enhanced security measures with 24/7 patrols from police, airport operations, private security, and ACE parking lot attendants.
Q4: I am a non-domiciled employee. What are the benefits of enrolling in the Airline Corporate Parking Program?
A4: Employees who enroll will receive a 10% discount rate, the ability to reserve public parking spaces, and the opportunity to earn free parking through the loyalty program.
Q5: If other employees leave the public parking, won’t the employee lot fill up?
A5:Â The city has guaranteed that there is enough parking available in our designated lots for everyone with a proxy card. We will monitor parking availability in the lots as changes to the Parking Program are implemented.
