To Congress and the White House: Pay TSA Now!Â
Hardworking frontline workers at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) should never be left without compensation. These are the people responsible for keeping our skies safe every single day – and yet their livelihood is being put at risk. They are among the lowest paid federal workers who simply can no longer afford to work for free. We stand united with our Union Siblings at AFGE as they endure personal hardships to keep the aviation industry afloat.Â
TSA workers undergo a six-month training program and cannot simply be replaced. Pay TSA workers to do the TSA work that they are trained to do. It’s now been 6 weeks and every day without action puts both the TSA and the traveling public at greater risk.
Congress has the power to end this today. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also has billions of dollars in discretionary funding that could be used to pay TSA during this partial shutdown, just like they have chosen to continue paying ICE and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents, as well as active duty members of the U.S. Coast Guard.
We the people have had enough. Funding for the TSA should not be used as a bargaining chip while politicians delay action. This is about national security and public safety.
Contact your elected officials in Washington today. Demand that they do their job and keep us safe. Lawmakers should not fly home for Easter recess until our TSA workers can afford to put dinner on the table. End the standoff and fund the TSA immediately.
