3.31.26 – Crew Accommodations Update

Tuesday, March 31, 2026
Since the March 4 Hotline, ‘AA Leadership Failures Now Target Crew Hotels’, APFA has continued enforcing CBA Section 6.A.2.c and advocating for safe and contractually compliant crew accommodations and transportation. Your reports are critical to ensuring issues are documented, addressed, and escalated.
Across domestic and international markets, your feedback has made an impact. Consistent reporting has highlighted instances in which management’s contracted hotels and transportation suppliers failed to meet contractual requirements. Long-standing, well-received, and contractually compliant hotels are at risk of being replaced by management, often against APFA’s recommendations. Through your reports and APFA advocacy, we are pushing back and challenging these changes, as many markets remain under review, as noted below. APFA will continue to fight for hotels that are CBA-compliant and protect the safety and security of our Flight Attendant crew accommodations and transportation.
At the same time, management continues to conduct hotel reviews at an aggressive pace, including in markets with no contractual concerns and where APFA recommended renewal of incumbent hotels. This approach puts hotels that our Members value most at risk.
Upcoming Hotel Reviews
Management will be conducting upcoming hotel site visits in the following cities to evaluate potential changes, and APFA will participate to advocate for compliance with Section 6 of the CBA.
- April 2026:Â ATL, CHS, DCA, GSP, HSV, LIM, QRO, RDU, RSW
- May 2026:Â BHM, CUN, EWR, FLL, MKE, SLP, UVF
APFA remains actively engaged in this process and will continue to enforce the contractual requirement for mutually agreed-upon hotels while advocating for accommodations that support proper crew rest, safety, and contractual compliance. Your role in this process remains critical. Management is responsible for its contracts with hotel and transportation suppliers. They maintain the relationships and communications. Prompt documentation and reporting through the APFA Hotel and Transportation Feedback Form is essential to ensure any issue is addressed and escalated appropriately.
Layover Spotlight: LHR
- A key win was our continued advocacy to ensure management did not renew a long-term crew hotel that had generated significant negative feedback over many years. This property consistently failed to meet Section 6 of the CBA. Through our joint efforts and your consistent use of the APFA Hotel and Transportation Feedback Form, DFW crews will transition out of this hotel effective the April bid month, following the earlier removal of BOS and ORD crews.
- LHR remains a challenging market due to the high room demand and the need to support flying from nearly every base. As we move into April and peak summer operations, several changes to crew accommodations have been implemented compared to last year.
- Despite APFA’s recommendation, management did not renew contracts with three incumbent LHR long layover hotels.
- In response, management introduced one new LHR hotel late last year, with an additional new hotel being added for April.
- While eight LHR hotels were used last year to accommodate all flying, this will be reduced to six long layover hotels this year, consisting of four incumbent properties and two new hotels.
