4.17.26 – APFA PHX Base Brief – PVR Cancellations – April 2026

PVR Cancellations – April 2026
Friday, April 17, 2026
APFA PHX is filing a base Notice of Dispute (NOD) on behalf of all PHX-based Flight Attendants affected by the cancellation of PVR sequences in the April 2026 bid month.
At this time, Direct Connect Pay Claims are being denied. If your claim has been denied, you must complete a NOD Filing Request Form. Submitting your denial for review is critical—this documentation allows us to include your potential case as part of the dispute.
Please be advised that the NOD resolution process may take several weeks or longer. While this matter is under review, Flight Attendants who need to maintain or increase their credited hours for April should take immediate action by picking up additional flying through TTS, UBL, or ETB.
If you were impacted by these cancellations, it is your responsibility to review and understand your contractual rights and obligations.
Who This Applies To
This applies to Lineholders who:
- Lost three (3) or more unpaid PVR sequences
- Due to cancellations from extraordinary circumstances
- And are not otherwise pay protected under another provision in Section 10
Contract Reference: CBA 10.J.1.b.
To qualify for pay protection, a Lineholder must make a “reasonable effort” to recover lost flying.
What Counts as a “Reasonable Effort”?
You must complete both of the following:
1. Bid for “Like Sequences” in TTS
After being notified of your cancellation, you must:
- Submit bids in TTS (Trip Trade System) for the applicable bid month
- Bids:
- Do NOT have to match the original dates
- Do NOT need to be consecutive
- Can include multiple sequences in a single run
What is a “Like Sequence”?
A sequence comparable to the canceled one must include:
- Comparable check-in and release times
- Within ±1 hour of the original sequence
- Same number of days
- Same type of flying:
- NIPD → NIPD
2. Make Yourself Available in TTS
You must:
- Be available for a number of TTS runs equal to the total duty periods lost
- Example:
- If you lost a total of three (3) sequences without pay protection → you must participate in 3 TTS runs
- You may bid multiple sequences in a single TTS run
Important Clarification: Last Sequence Cancellations
Q: Does a last sequence cancellation count toward the required three cancellations?
A: No.
- Last sequence cancellations are covered under Section 10.L
- They are automatically pay protected
- They do NOT count toward the three required cancellations for additional protection
👉 In simple terms:
- A last sequence cancellation is handled separately
- You still need three additional qualifying cancellations to trigger 10.J.1.b. protections
Direct Connect (Pay Protection Claims)
Whether you need to submit a Direct Connect depends on your TTS outcome:
If You Are Awarded a TTS Sequence
- No action required if:
- The awarded sequence value (including premiums) is equal to or greater than the canceled sequence
- You MUST submit a Direct Connect within 5 calendar days if:
- The awarded sequence pays less than the canceled sequence
- The awarded sequence does not include the same premiums
Include in your submission:
- Awarded sequence details
- Date of the canceled sequence
➡️ Crew Compensation will pay the difference
If You Are NOT Awarded a TTS Sequence
You must submit a Direct Connect within 5 calendar days of the TTS ballot and include:
- TTS run date
- TTS run number
- Date of the canceled sequence
Key Takeaways
- You must lose 3+ PVR sequences (excluding last sequence cancellations).
- Any ETB sequence picked up within the footprint of the originally scheduled pay protected sequence will negate pay protection.
- To qualify for pay protection, you are required to:
- Actively bid in TTS
- Remain available for required runs
- Pay protection is not automatic — compliance with “reasonable effort” rules is required
- Deadlines matter:
- Direct Connect must be submitted within 5 calendar days
