4.24.26 – 1Q 2026 Results Demand Management Accountability, Not Employee Micromanagement

First Quarter 2026 Results Demand Management Accountability, Not Employee Micromanagement

Friday, April 24, 2026

This week, American Airlines reported a quarterly loss, while our premium competitors reported profits. This marks another quarter where American has failed to compete financially at the level our employees and customers deserve.

As Delta and United continue to widen the gap, this leadership team has yet to demonstrate a clear, effective strategy to close it.

The facts are indisputable:

  • We are behind
  • We lack a clear brand identity
  • We are losing relevance in a fiercely competitive market.

Whether you have five years or forty-five years left at this airline, this trajectory should concern every one of us. The long-term viability of American Airlines and the security of our careers are at risk due to failed leadership and reactive, short-sighted decision-making. This continued underperformance jeopardizes not only our future but also the hard-fought gains in our contract.

At the same time, management continues to impose new tools and systems on frontline employees, including the Me@Work app, under the premise of improving efficiency, accountability, and operational performance. If that is truly the standard, then leadership should be held to it as well. Perhaps what this company needs is a version of Me@Work for its executives—one that demands real-time accountability, measurable performance, and alignment between decisions made at Skyview headquarters and realities faced on the line. Because right now, employee disconnect is driving this airline in the wrong direction.

As we made clear earlier this year, Flight Attendants will not repeat history. We will not absorb the consequences of management’s failed strategies, and we will not entertain contractual concessions to offset leadership’s mistakes. That era is over.

What we demand is real accountability and a leadership team capable of executing a bold, credible plan to restore American Airlines as a true premium competitor. Management must hold itself accountable rather than constantly micromanaging its hard-working employees. Anything less is a continuation of the same failed approach that brought us to this point.
