5.01.26 – APFA BOS Base Brief – LHR Catering Update | Me@Work

Friday, May 1, 2026

Boston Flight Attendants,

Update on LHR Catering

We remain in active conversation with the company regarding the ongoing catering situation in LHR and the additional workload this has caused Flight Attendants. Following APFA’s pushback against the expectation of Flight Attendants to remove trash from carts and place it in the galley the company revised the standards to make this item optional. This was not a sufficient or long term solution to what we consider a scope violation, and we have continued pushing. As of April 29th, the cleaning partner in LHR has begun trash removal from food carts, in addition to the trash carts, removing this responsibility from the Flight Attendant work group entirely. This was achieved based on the feedback and reporting we have received from Flight Attendants, and we greatly appreciate your documentation of the company’s continued failures in dealing with this situation. Please continue to write up any safety, service, or catering concerns stemming from LHR.

We are still working to negotiate a settlement on the Base NOD 2026-BOS-9 that was filed over LHR catering. We hope to have an update soon to share with the base.

Me@Work

On April 16th American Airlines announced the creation of Me@Work, a new “lifestyle” app designed to show “how your efforts and teamwork influence the customer experience every day.” For years Flight Attendants have been telling this management team that they are tired of being treated like children, belittled and micro-managed every single time they set foot in an airport. The company’s response to those concerns was to dig their heels in and create a system that reduces each Flight Attendant to just a number. To say they are out of touch would be the understatement of the century.

Your BOS Base Leadership is working on preparing a Base NOD over the creation of this app, once that has been filed we will be sure to update the members in our next base brief. Our ask is that our BOS Flight Attendants do not let your frustrations fizzle out once a NOD has been filed, if we are going to challenge this company it takes every one of us to do it. Once the NOD is filed, expect a call to action from your base leadership so that we can all show American Airlines together that Flight Attendants are more than just a number, and we deserve to be treated as such.

In Solidarity,
