Contract Implementation Update #59
Rescheduling in ECS | Part 2

Starting Wednesday, May 6, 2026, if you are disrupted, you will receive an ECS notification (instead of a phone call) for the following disruptions:

  • disruptions that occur after report but prior to origination (CBA 10.J.3.d), and
  • disruptions that occur after origination (CBA 10.J.4.c).

When you experience a disruption to your sequence, you will receive an ECS notification. You will be provided with:

  • The sequence affected
  • How long you must remain contactable
  • The disruption type
  • Which flight leg was disrupted
  • The start time of the disruption
  • When your repair window ends
  • Sequence Base Time (SBT): Time displayed in the time zone of the base where the sequence originated.

ECS Notifications will replace Crew Scheduling or Tracking calling when you are disrupted after report or after origination, and are required to remain contactable. Refer to Contract Implementation Update #58 for more information.

Input your Notification Preferences

ECS is now updated to allow you to input your preferences for how you receive these Rescheduling notifications.

To change your notification preferences, open ECS and click the profile icon in the top left. Select Message Setup, and you will see Rescheduling now as an option.

ECS Inbox Delivery and EFB Push Notifications are required and cannot be turned off. You also have the option to receive these notifications to your Personal Device via the ECS App/PWA, Email, SMS Text, or automated phone call.

ECS Rescheduling FAQ’s

Q: Is ECS replacing phone contact for disruptions after report (10.J.3.d and 10.J.4.c)?

A: Yes. ECS will replace the phone call for 10.J.3.d and 10.J.4.c (Rescheduling when disrupted after report time).

Q: When can the company use ECS to notify me of a reschedule?

A: Beginning May 6th at 0001 CT, ECS will be used to notify you of a disruption that occurs after report but prior to sequence origination (10.J.3.d), or a disruption that occurs after origination (10.J.4.c). Following ECS notification of a disruption, the company will send an additional ECS message advising you of your rescheduled/repaired flying.

Q: What is considered a disruption?

A: A disruption is defined as a cancellation, misconnect, or illegality that removes flying in your scheduled sequence and triggers the reschedule or repair of the sequence.

Q: If I experience a disruption after report or after origination, will the company call me in addition to sending the ECS notification advising me of the disruption and subsequent repair?

A: No. The company will only send ECS messages to notify you of the disruption and sequence repair.

Q: Can ECS be used to notify me of a reschedule when my sequence has not been disrupted?

A: No. Beginning May 6th, ECS at this time is only being implemented to notify you of a disruption and subsequent repair that occurs after report but prior to sequence origination, or a disruption after origination.

Q: Will ECS eventually be used to notify me of other types of reschedules?

A: Yes, in the future, additional CBA provisions allowing electronic notification will be implemented. We will provide more information over the upcoming months as we implement these items.

Q: What is SBT, and why are we not using Home Base Time or Station Local Time?

A: SBT stands for Sequence Base Time, which is the time zone of the base that your sequence originated. This time zone is being used instead of Home Base Time or Station Local Time in preparation for the implementation of Out of Base flying later this year. There are no changes at this time to Crew Portal; you may use Home Base Time or Station Local Time, at your option.

Q: Can you provide some examples of SBT?

A: Example 1: Once Out of Base flying is implemented, you are MIA based and pick up out of base flying in LAX. If after report or after origination of this sequence you experience a disruption, the ECS messages notifying you of the disruption, the required repair window, and the reschedule/repair will be displayed in Pacific Time (or Sequence Base Time).

Example 2: You are CLT based and are flying a trip that originates out of CLT. If after report or after origination of this sequence you experience a disruption, the ECS messages notifying you of the disruption, the required repair window, and the reschedule/repair will be displayed in Eastern Time.
