6.09.26 – APFA PHL Base Brief – July 2026 Staffing and Allocations

July 2026 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Tuesday, June 9, 2026

Hello PHL,
We held our monthly Allocations call on June 3 to review the July schedule. July is expected to be a busy month, driven by Independence Day travel demand and the continued impact of the FIFA World Cup.
Reserve staffing is higher than last year, though the overall reserve percentage has decreased due to continued growth at the base. Management cited the anticipated full summer schedule, the potential for weather-related disruptions, and historical summer absenteeism as factors in determining reserve levels. Reserve headcount increased from 618 Flight Attendants in July 2025 to 651 for July 2026.
There is one schedule change during the bid month, which will occur on July 2.
ALLOCATIONS
Last month, PHL was allocated 195,211 flying hours. July shows a decrease in flying hours to 189,737 hours. Compared to July 2025, it is a decrease of almost 20,000 hours.

NEW HIRES
This month, we welcome two new classes. PHL will welcome a modest eight FA’s. Be sure to say hi and show them that brotherly love. Three new hire FAs will be bidding in PBS, and five new hire FAs will be added after bids close. The total number will be deducted from the reserve number in the LRD.
RESERVES
As mentioned, Reserve coverage has increased since June. The number of projected Reserve FAs increases to 651, or 21.6%, compared to June at 17.9%. The system average is 25%! The LRD number will be posted at 651. Factor in the eight new-hire FAs before and after PBS. This means the projected number to be on RSV is actually 643.
STAFFING
The projected line average is 83.4 hours. Please note that these figures are subject to change based on bidding behaviors.

VOLUNTARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE (VLOAs)
There will be no VLOAs.
SEQUENCE STATISTICS
There is a slight increase in rest periods. The Company is trying to build more 15-16-hour rest periods rather than 12-13-hour rest periods.

ODANs
ODANS are slightly down again this month, with slightly more variety. Available to bid will be ATL, RDU, CLE, PIT, IND, PVD, and CHS.
IPD
The Company has announced the discontinuation of DOH. We are very sad to see this market leave.
A second PHL-FCO will be added from October 5th to October 24 on 787-8.
PHL-VCE will extend through November 1st, also on a 787-8.
NIPD
NIPD turns, and layovers continue. Layovers are in SAP, MGA, BDA, KIN, SJU, MBJ, STI, SDQ, MEX, STX, CUR, QRO, GDL, GUA.
DOMESTIC WIDEBODY FLYINGThere will be a MIA turn daily beginning on 02JUL.
CHARTERS
Sequence 30338 is a new sequence created to operate as a carry-over trip originating on 01JUL. The layover city is NLU. NLU is located approximately 30 miles from the Mexico City Airport. The trip will operate with an Airbus 321 and will be staffed with 5 FAs. There is no requirement that a Spanish speaker be on this trip.
PIT SATELLITE
Slight increase here. PIT hours will be 4,653 this month, from 4,547 in June.
*Note: Please remember that when you are awarded a satellite trip, it is your responsibility to get to PIT to start the trip and get home when the trip ends. The Company does NOT provide deadheads to and from PIT.
EFB COMPLIANCE
As a reminder, Flight Attendants are responsible for checking for updates at the start of every trip. This includes reviewing all system updates, ensuring Comply365 is up to date, and confirming your device is properly synced.
