Our second group of Premium Parking Blackout Dates begins Wednesday, July 1, and continues through Monday, July 6, 2026. During this period, parking in Airport Premium Parking Lots will be charged at the full public rate.

In December 2025, the City of Phoenix announced a 100% increase to the employee premium parking rate. While American Airlines management chose not to challenge the increase, your APFA PHX Base Council Representative immediately took action by building a labor coalition and working with Phoenix City Council Members to negotiate directly with the City of Phoenix Aviation Director.

Through feedback from our members, the coalition focused negotiations on improving both the affordability and safety of employee parking. Those efforts resulted in significant improvements, including:

Achievements

• A more reasonable employee premium parking discount
• An audit of premium parking passes, creating additional Terminal 4 and RAC parking opportunities for Flight Attendants

Improvements to Employee Parking Lots

• Repainted parking lines
• Landscape maintenance
• Upgraded LED lighting
• Shuttle tracking at the 44th Street Employee Lot
• Security escorts to vehicles
• Enhanced security patrols
• Reopening of the west building doors to the 44th Street Sky Train Station
• Nightly shuttle service to employee lots during Sky Train maintenance

Upcoming Improvements

• Solar panel-covered parking at the 44th Street Employee Lot
• Numbered parking spaces
• Seasonal round-trip shuttle service for West Economy Parking

In addition to these improvements, the coalition successfully secured a discounted premium parking program for non-PHX-based commuters, making Phoenix the first base in our system to offer a premium parking discount to non-domicile employees.

The program includes:

• 15% discount on premium parking
• No blackout dates
• Ability to reserve parking in advance
• Opportunity to earn free parking stays
• Discount increases to 20% if participation exceeds 300 bookings per month
