Hello, this is Denise Pointer with an InfoRep message for Thursday, January 5, 2006.
Last week, I sent out an email asking everyone to please log onto www.apfa.org and click on the link to contact your Congressperson regarding the changes made by the TSA that affect cabin safety. Thank you to those of you who took the time to write your Representative. There’s still time to make contact so please log onto the Web site today. We know you have a lot to juggle and being a political activist is usually not at the top of your list. But now that the New Year is here and we are all getting back to our normal routines, consider letting Washington know that lifting the ban on certain items allowed on board our aircraft is counterproductive. Voice your support today for the Leave All Weapons Behind bill. See www.apfa.org for more information.
Our lawmakers don’t return to Washington for several weeks Let’s make sure they have a lot of correspondence awaiting them from AA Flight Attendants!
The annual APFA convention is set for the week of February 20, 2006. It will be held at the Ayres Hotel in Los Angeles. Several classes and workshops will be offered the first part of the week including scheduling and contract classes as well as a retirement seminar. If you are planning to attend and need accommodations, please contact the hotel directly at 310-536-0400. Reservations must be made by February 1, 2006, in order to receive the APFA discounted rate. See www.apfa.org for more details.
Jill Frank will be conducting a retirement seminar on January 12 at RDU. If retirement is on your horizon, or you are wishing it might be, you owe it to yourself to attend one of Jill’s seminars!

From the hotel department * just a brief reminder that those layover cities whose hotels are up for review are posted on the hotel department’s Web site prior to any review taking place. Go to www.apfa.org, department, hotel then hotel survey. This survey allows you to quickly communicate your opinions of a specific layover property. We have several new layover properties beginning this week. Be sure to check your HIHTL for updated information.
The Rumor mill was on vacation in December. I did receive a few emails regarding old rumors that just won’t seem to die, but no new ones! The answers to all the old rumors remain the same.
That’s it for this week. Thanks for all you do for the InfoRep program.
