Attention Info Reps:

This past Wednesday, APFA, APA, TWU and American Airlines issued a press release after agreeing on a unique joint position on governmental pension reform. APFA was instrumental in securing this joint position. Last Friday on the general Hotline message, Tommie Hutto-Blake shared a brief explanation of what all four parties were able to accomplish. For all of the details, please visit www. www.apfa.org.

APFA will be visiting Washington DC on May 11th to discuss issues such as flight attendant fatigue, pension reform, and fuel prices with Congress, It has never been more important for each of you to join us and make your voices heard. Please mark you calendars for May 11th and join all of us for this one day fly-in. Details will be forthcoming.

Lobbying our lawmakers is important as fuel prices continue to reach record breaking levels. With fuel prices 70% higher than last year, and American hedged for fuel at only 15% for the first quarter and no hedging for the remainder of the year, while others are hedged at up to 85%, AMR will be hard-pressed to realize a profit anytime soon.

RUMOR CONTROL: AMR has not approached any of the three unions with requests for concessions.

APFA needs to hear from you regarding the issue of fatigue. Please log onto www.www.apfa.org and click on the We’re Restless icon. Here, you can share your stories with APFA as well as sign up for the May 11th Fly-In. APFA needs your input. Please encourage your fellow flight attendant to visit this web page.

The latest issue of Skyword has been mailed. On page 24, the contract article contains an error. The second bolded "R2" should actually read "R3." When you are bidding for a vacation relief, the R3 designator is the code that should be entered if you DO NOT WISH an individual selection in your ballot to be awarded as a relief.

A few more important reminders:

  1. Secondary vacation bids are due by 0800 CST on March 23.
  2. The Company’s deadline for receipt of dependent verification documents is April 8.

We have a few hotel layover announcements effective March 31.

  1. Long New York – Milford Plaza, 44th and 8th Avenue
  2. Long LAX – Marriott Courtyard Marina del Rey – renewed
  3. Longest of the Long LAX – Ayres International, Manhattan Beach
  4. FRA – Dorint – renewed
  5. MCI – Westin Crowne Center – renewed
  6. SEA – Westin – renewed
  7. PDX – Marriott Waterfront downtown
