Leave All Weapons Behind bill
On December 22nd, the TSA lifted its ban on scissors of less than 4" and tools of 7" or less on board the aircraft. The TSA’s reasoning behind the lifting of this ban was to free up time for the screeners to search for explosives in carry-on baggage.
APFA has expressed our outrage at this move and now is in the process of launching an all-out campaign to rally our flight attendant work force into action. Help us tell Congress that this move is a huge step backward in the fight against terrorism.
The Leave All Blades Behind bill has been introduced into the House of Representatives as H.R. 4452 and the Senate as S. 2083. These bills would ban the items that were, up until last week, banned from our aircraft. Each one of us must get involved now.
For the past few weeks, APFA has been encouraging flight attendants to log onto www.www.apfa.org and click on "Contact your Congressperson About Weapons In The Cabin." As of today, there are only 30 House members and 4 Senators who have co-sponsored these bills.
As an InfoRep, we need your help and your involvement. Please contact your Congressperson and Senators. We also need your help in recruiting as many flight attendants as possible to do the same.
Print this email and carry it with you on your flights – please share this with each and every Flight Attendant. This issue affects our safety and security onboard the aircraft.
Watch for upcoming APFA lobbying efforts in Washington D.C., on this issue.
