NEGOTIATIONS

The scheduling subcommittees met on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Discussions continued on Article 10-Reserve. The company has notified the APFA scheduling subcommittee that they are prepared to begin discussing Article 7-Hours of Service, Article 8-Minimum Pay and Credit and Article 9-Scheduling, during next week’s meetings.

Other APFA/AA Negotiating Committees met on Thursday. APFA presented the company with our proposal for Article 30-General and Article 31-Union Security. APFA also presented a counter proposal on Article 27-Bereavement/Emergency/Personal Leave.

American’s negotiating committee presented counter proposals on Article 20-Medical Appeals and Arbitration, Article 21-Hotels and Transportation, Article 24-Copies of Agreement, and Article 34-Purser.

DID YOU KNOW?

Premium Pay (incentive) was introduced in Article 3A of the 1960 Collective Bargaining Agreement. It only applied to Stewardesses flying the four engine turbo-prop or four engine turbo-jet equipment. It paid $2.50/hour for the turbo-prop and $5.00/hour for the turbo-jet and it only paid out if the Stewardess flew more than 75 actual hours; credit time was not included.

Today, our negotiated incentive rates are in Article 3.B. / Appendix I.3.B. – Compensation. They apply to all hours flown above 70, on all equipment. Years of service and pay step increases determine the amount of incentive pay.
