JUST THE FACTS PLEASE…
It has recently been brought to your Negotiating Team’s attention that there are some of our members posting and emailing information regarding negotiations that is COMPLETELY FALSE. The latest item is that the tentative agreement on Article 10 – Reserve, will require the majority of bid lines to contain three (3) days of reserve duty. This is COMPLETELY AND ENTIRELY FALSE! While specifics cannot be given at this time, your Team can assure you that the T/A on Article 10 – Reserve, will offer Flight Attendants who serve reserve more flexibility and control over their reserve schedules.
Posting rumors as fact, without first verifying the information with APFA, is extremely harmful and unfair to the membership. Please, before you post something that you have "heard," check that facts. If you cannot cite the source, don’t post the information. Visit the negotiations section of www.www.apfa.org, call APFA Headquarters or your local base representative to obtain the facts. You can always email your Negotiating Team at [email protected].
MEMBERSHIP CALL TO ACTION:
It is imperative that everyone is in compliance with our ìPins and Wingsî campaign. We must send the message to management that the Membership is involved, informed and unified! All members should wear only their APFA pin and wings. Please move all company and personal pins to your serving garment until we obtain a contract.
Our "NEGOTIATE IT" return to sender campaign was a huge success. Management has backed down on unilaterally implementing the SkyMall sales initiative. They will continue the initiative on a voluntary basis. Enrollment is strictly VOLUNTARY. APFA can assure you that we won’t be "volunteering" for anything until American Airlines management gives us the contract we deserve. You do the same.
Continue to write "NEGOTIATE IT" across any correspondence from the company concerning SkyMall and return it to your supervisor or base manager. IT WORKS!
In addition, there is a pulse poll question regarding Onboard Sales through the Membership Poll page. Log in is required to take a poll. Results can be viewed without logging in. Over the next few weeks, additional questions will be added ñ check back frequently.
NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE:
During June, APFA President Laura Glading, along with members of your Negotiating Team, visited all of the bases to discuss the status of negotiations and share what will be expected of the membership in the coming months. Turnout has been excellent and feedback from members in attendance has been extremely positive. Over the course of the next few months, membership involvement will play a key role in helping your Team bring us the contract we deserve. Keep an eye on the IR Hotlines for directions on future membership actions.
FURLOUGHS:
The APFA Leadership has been working diligently to do everything possible to mitigate furloughs. As a result the rules for Partnership flying have changed quite a bit. Partnership Flying has been amended to more resemble Part Time (Appendix R). Information regarding furloughs and the "New and Improved" partnership flying is now posted on the Reduction in Force page of the APFA website.
In the meantime, if you frequently drop your entire schedule or a good portion of your trips , please consider taking a partnership flying or leave option to help save a job of a fellow member in this difficult time.
