Today, APFA Base Representatives had the monthly staffing and allocations call with the Company. Robin Agee and Secorra Flowers represented the PHX base on this call. Here are the details for the January bid month.
VLOAs for January 2025
Under the 2024 CBA 25.B, Voluntary Leaves of Absence (VLOA) are available at all bases for the January 2025 bid month. 28 unpaid VLOAs are being offered for PHX. The company has stated that VLOAs for January are being offered due to a regular seasonal reduction in flights.
The bidding window will close Saturday, December 7 at 1200 (CT). You may access the ballot in Comply365 > My Forms > AAFA > FA Voluntary Leave of Absence (VLOA). Flight Attendants awarded a VLOA will receive a CCI message.

Incentive Point and Holiday Pay 2024 – 2025
Reserve Bubble Bidders
When PBS processing begins, if additional Lineholders are needed, those with Reserve status will be changed to Lineholder status in the following order:
- Tentative Flight Attendants whose preference was Lineholder in the LRD process.
- Reserve Flight Attendants who toggled to Pref LH in the LRD who were unable to hold Lineholder status in LRD.
- Most junior Reserve Flight Attendants involuntarily moved to Lineholder status after all the above have been utilized.
Important: If you are in one of these 3 categories above, you will want to bid 7 layers of Reserve and 7 layers of Lineholder in PBS.
More Than a Three (3) Hour Delay (After Report)
2024 CBA Section 10.J.8. – “When a flight departure is delayed for more than three (3) hours, the Flight Attendant who is scheduled for such flight shall not be required to stand by and shall be relieved of duty at her/his request, provided that other Flight Attendants are available to replace her/him without increasing the delay. A Flight Attendant desiring to be released shall remain on duty until the relief Flight Attendant reports for duty. A Flight Attendant exercising this option shall forfeit any pay and credit that may be accumulated under any other Paragraph in Section 10.”
This provision applies at sequence origination only, not mid-sequence. You are not entitled to Call Out pay or pay protection, but you will receive the Duty Rig from report to release. Section 11.D.5. states, “A Flight Attendant shall receive a minimum of one (1) hour of pay and credit for every two (2) hours of actual on-duty time prorated on a minute-by-minute basis of actual on-duty time.”
Example: You are delayed for more than three hours and request to be removed from your sequence. You reported at 1000 and are relieved and released at 1400. Your four hours on duty would generate two hours of pay. Once released, contact Crew Scheduling to ensure your release time is added so pay for the duty day can be added. If the pay is not generated by closeout, submit a Direct Connect.
Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time
PHX-based Flight Attendants can now utilize up to forty (40) hours of paid sick leave annually to cover absences due to personal medical conditions, care for eligible family members, or other qualifying reasons outlined in the Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time Policy.
If you need to use your accrued AZ sick time, continue to call out sick by contacting Crew Scheduling. Then, submit your recode request using the AZ Paid Sick Recode Request form in Comply365 > My Forms > Inflight Admin Requests > AZ Paid Sick Recode Request.
Starting January 1, 2025, and continuing every January 1 thereafter, the Company will provide eligible PHX-based Flight Attendants with 40 hours of AZ Paid Sick leave for each calendar year, which runs from January 1 to December 31.
