1.23.25 – APFA ORD Base Brief – Thursday, January 23, 2025

Thursday, January 23, 2025
Hello, Chicago! The country is experiencing record-cold temperatures, please stay warm out there!
February LHR Removals
Flight 90 experienced a schedule change from February 12 – 25, resulting in an earlier report time. 2024 CBA 10.J.2.d speaks to the contractual obligations when this occurs:
“In no case shall the Lineholder be required to report for a sequence earlier than originally scheduled. If the rescheduled departure is earlier than the originally scheduled departure, duty time will commence concurrent with Domestic or International report times based on the earlier departure time. If replaced, such Flight Attendant shall receive the crew substitution protections afforded in Paragraph J.10.”
The impacted crews were removed with a pay protected removal code. This is treated no differently than any other time we are removed with pay protection, we just do not often experience a removal this far ahead of time.
In accordance with 2024 CBA Section 10, Flight Attendants may “double dip” over calendar days that contain pay protections. To double dip, make sure to only conduct transactions using TTS/UBL for sequences that touch the calendar day(s) containing pay protections. Conducting ETB transactions with sequences that touch the calendar days containing pay protections will negate pay protection.
Professional Standards
If you experience a crew conflict, please keep professional standards in mind. When someone brings an issue to the company it can open a can of worms for the entire crew. We are all adults; you decide how you want to proceed. But just remember that once the company hears about an issue, they will investigate it fully. Keeping an issue with professional standards, peer-to-peer can help protect everyone involved while also addressing the issue.
Professional standards may be reached at: 833-214-2002
Transportation Reimbursement
2024 CBA 6.C.4 allows for transportation (Uber, Lyft, Taxi, or other method) reimbursement if you block into the gate at crew base between 2300-0600 because of a late operation. This is based on block in, not debrief.
Example: Your were originally scheduled to block into the gate at 2250, but in actual operations you block in at 2305. You have the option to take transportation and submit for reimbursement to the company via Comply365.
EFB Updates
The company communicated a required EFB update to iOS 18.2, effective January 20. Please review the iPhone EFB Compliance Video.
It is company policy that Flight Attendants sync Comply365 before the start of each sequence. Maintaining a compliant EFB is included in the company’s Attendance and Performance Policy.
Uniform Dollars
Check your uniform dollars balance to ensure you received the correct amount of uniform allocations. Go to the uniform website (Lands’ End Login), click Uniform Store, and click “Allocation Balance” in the left corner to check for the 01/10/2025 issuance amount. You can find your Total Paid Hours for 2024 on the HISK (Path: Crew Portal > FOS Screens > Last Year SK/VC Accrual “TTL FT PAID HOURS”). If you received the incorrect amount of uniform dollar allocation for 2024, please email your Crew Manager and copy in ORD APFA.
7.D.1 of the CBA:
