4.08.25 – APFA BOS Base Brief – Tuesday, April 8, 2025

Tuesday, April 8, 2025
Dear Boston Flight Attendants,
We cannot think of any other way to begin our first Base Brief than with a deep heartfelt thank you to Kelli Powers and Nicole Tennenbaum for all the time and effort they have given our BOS Base. They have both shown a real heart for Unionism, not only in the diligent work they put in to navigating negotiations, COVID-19, and many other challenges; but also in their passion for bringing up new leaders. Their efforts during the transition of Base Leadership have truly put BOS ahead in our ability to handle the challenges that will come within this term. Nearly every day in the past 3 months has included a 2 hour phone call with Kelli, and not a week has passed without hours of meetings and advice from them both. I thank them for the love they have always had for our base, and for their efforts to ensure a seamless transition. While we know they will always be engaged and active members of this union, we hope they now also find time for some very well-deserved rest and relaxation.
Communications with Base Representatives
It’s been a very busy first week of our term, and it has been our pleasure to get down to work representing our members. Remember that for any meeting with management, everyone, including probationary Flight Attendants, are entitled to union representation. Reach out to us if your manager would like to schedule a call and we can dial in, or if you receive a call or email notifying you that a meeting has been scheduled. If you see the removal code PW on your schedule, you have been removed from a trip for a meeting with management, contact one of us immediately.
Please note that the official methods of contacting us for APFA work are via the phone numbers we have provided to members, or our APFA emails. Neither of us monitor our Instagram or Facebook private messages for union work so if you message us there it is likely that your question will be missed. When contacting us for contractual questions or representation we ask that you put both Luke and Kea in a group chat, or send the email to us both, so that whoever is available to answer sooner may do so.
Electronic Communication System (ECS)
The new ECS that was negotiated into the 2024 CBA should now be live on everyone’s EFB. While it has not yet gone live for communications, we do recommend logging in now so that you can set up your preferences. In time this will be replacing the current ONEAA alerts that we receive today. As the implementation continues this will become a two-way communication system, where Flight Attendants will also be able to notify Crew Scheduling of things such as no-showing their deadhead; without having to call.
REAL ID
The time is finally here. After being pushed back multiple times over the past few years the deadline to have a REAL ID is May 7, 2025. Starting on May 7, only REAL IDs will be accepted as valid drivers licenses within airports, your Passport, Passport Card, or FAA Card can still count as one form of identification, but if you intend to use a Driver’s License to access KCM it must be a REAL ID.
In Solidarity,
