4.28.25 – APFA ORD Base Brief – Monday, April 28, 2025

Monday, April 28, 2025

It has been a busy month as we head into summer, with a lot happening system wide and in Chicago. Here are a few hot topics impacting Chicago the most.

BCR Meeting

On April 11th, ORD APFA held a BCR meeting with many of the new Base Council Reps who began their terms on April 1st. It was a great chance for everyone to meet, talk about current issues, and find ways to get involved and support the base. We also started handing out the new blue APFA lanyards and pins to replace the red or company lanyards. Keep an eye out for a base rep who might have some extra. Let’s show our unity and get Chicago all in blue!

April Read and Sign

The company has a required item that requires flight attendants to sign a form in Comply365 titled, “Understanding new aircraft door procedures effective April 1, 2025”

Please do not forget to review and sign this document. This is due by tonight April 28th.

CQ Modules

There is a known concern regarding the length of the 2025-2026 CQ modules. According to CBA Section 29.G.2, the total number of hours for any Distance Learning may not exceed eight (8) hours. To address this concern with Management and to challenge the length of the CQ modules, we need to gather data from Flight Attendants who have completed or will complete the online training for their upcoming CQ Training.

Documentation is key! The more proof we can gather on this issue will help address the issue with the company.

The company has access to your transcripts, we can’t see them unless you fill out the CQ WBT Completion Times Report Form.

ORD Buses

There are a few new buses in the rotation for those who park in K19. They have steep stairs and very little storage for luggage. We have been told there is no set schedule for when these buses run but are told they are being used during the heaviest travel times.

If you are on one of these buses and find the situation unsafe, please be sure to document the situation. Remember, the company won’t see or know about the issue unless we tell them.

The base manager’s email is [email protected]. You can fill out a CERS report with photos.

Chicago Public Transit – Chicago CTA

Chicago crewmembers know how important the buses and trains are to help us get to work and enjoy our amazing city.  Unfortunately, the CTA is at risk of budget cuts that could severely impact public transit.  This could mean longer wait times for the blue line train, less reliable service and more.  Take a few minutes now  to contact your state  representatives to inform them how we need to keep the CTA on track.  See the link below.

Let’s keep Chicago moving!

Send a message to the elected officials overseeing the CTA here -> CTA FORM
