6.11.24 – APFA BOS Base Brief – Tuesday, June 11, 2024

Tuesday, June 11, 2024
Good evening, Boston! As we enter the Summer months, APFA BOS knows that everyone has a lot on their plates, from end-of-school-year parties to graduations, concerts, vacations, watching the Celtics go up 2-0 in the NBA Finals, and enjoying the sunny, warm weather. We are sending out reminders regarding important base information and upcoming Union events.
BOS APFA Vice President Election
The National Ballot Committee has announced this special election via an online Electronic Voting method with our vendor, YesElections. Your electronic voting credentials will be mailed tomorrow, June 12, 2024, to the address you have on file with APFA. The ballot count will occur at APFA Headquarters on July 12, 2024, at 10:00 am (CT). Electronic votes must be received by July 12, 2024, at 10:00 am (CT).
You may request a paper ballot; however, paper ballots must be received at the designated P.O. Box no later than July 12, 2024, at 10:00 am (CT). Â All information regarding this special election can be found here.
Thank you to Nicole Tennenbaum and Kristine Wolanske for stepping up and submitting your willingness to serve paperwork.
APFA Strike Command Center is Open
The Strike Command Center is a resource to prepare us for potential strike actions. Other resources include a dedicated APFA Strike Webpage, which includes a digital copy of the APFA Strike Booklet. A paper copy of the strike booklet will also be mailed to your address on file with APFA. The strike booklet will be a critical guide in navigating strike procedures, so keep it in your flight bag if a 30-day cooling-off period is announced.
The APFA Strike Command Center can be reached by calling 806-4STRIKE. The current hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 0900-1700 CT. If we are released into a 30-day cooling-off period and a strike occurs, the hours will increase.
Shoutout and thank you to our BOS APFA Strike Coordinator Co-Captains, Anna Myers and Rachel Pinard. We truly appreciate you both taking on this crucial role during this pivotal and challenging time.
Flight Attendant Worldwide Day of Action
Thursday, June 13 from 1100-1300
To demand a contract, we’re kicking off this red-hot Solidarity Summer with a Worldwide Flight Attendant Day of Action. Airline executives have had no problem dolling out massive raises for themselves. Join us this Thursday, June 13, at more than 30 airports for a Worldwide Day of Action and picketing event. Uniforms are preferred.
In order to allow as many Flight Attendants to participate in the Worldwide Day of Action, we will be picketing at both Terminal B and the Massachusetts State House. Terminal B will be limited to 10 people. Please reach out to CAT Team Lead, Anna Myers, [email protected] or text/call (682)301-8511, if you would like to participate in the Airport Picket. All other Flight Attendants, Families, Friends, Supporters, and Dogs are encouraged to join us at the steps of the Massachusetts State House, 24 Beacon St., Unit 1, Boston, MA 02108. The weather forecast looks excellent for Thursday, so we’ll bring sunscreen!
MBTA subway stops near the Massachusetts State House:
- From Logan Airport, take the Blue Line to Government Center.
- The State House is accessible via the MBTA Green Line or Red Line at Park Street, or the Orange Line at Downtown Crossing.
Showing our Unity and supporting one another is our greatest strength against our current Management. Continue to wear your red lanyards, pins, and bag tags to get the contract we have earned and deserve.
In Solidarity,
