8.04.24 – APFA LGA Base Brief – Another American Airlines IROP Failure

Another American Airlines IROP Failure
Sunday, August 4, 2024
Last night, I was inundated with distressing text messages from LGA Flight Attendants, highlighting the unprecedented challenges we are facing due to the IROPS. The handling of the situation was dire, with hotels running out of rooms, 4-6 hour wait times, and our Hotel/Limo & Scheduling departments leaving members on hold over three hours, and some never got through. The crew members experiencing these challenges has already completed full duty days, some well beyond their scheduled day.
I understand and acknowledge the frustration you must be feeling, and your local Union rep’s inability to resolve your issues only adds to the challenging situation.
American Airlines management has repeatedly failed to prioritize accommodation for frontline workers, impacting their quality of work life. I remain committed to finding a solution with my colleagues on the board of directors. While compensation may help in the short term, the health of our members should never be risked because of compensation, nor their quality of work life.
I am prepared to file individual disputes on your behalf if you request it.
