2.12.25 – APFA LGA Base Brief – American’s Lack of Response to Safety Issues

American’s Lack of Response to Safety Issues
Wednesday, February 12, 2025
On February 11, 2025, I filed two Base Disputes regarding employee parking issues for the EWR and LGA lots. I had already addressed both concerns with the local team, emphasizing the urgency of finding solutions as soon as possible.
Despite following the established chain of command, we continue to receive responses indicative of poor management from the top, leaving local managers simply passing on information rather than advocating for their team members. I have requested an expedited Dispute Resolution Conference, and just confirmed it for this coming Friday. Discussions with the regional director continue, as well as with local APA & CWA leadership to ensure we remain prepared for any further action deemed necessary to resolve these issues.
While we work on resolving these issues, I want to provide flight attendants in New York with instructions on how to protect your privacy and ensure your safety, as American Airlines does not currently prioritize these concerns based on their lack of action.
LGA Stickers for Lot P-10
- If you have already affixed your sticker to your vehicle, please do not remove it, regardless of where it is placed.
- If you have removed the sticker due to unclear communication and cannot reapply it, you may leave it off.
I am requesting that parking hang tags be issued as they have been for over 35 years, without requiring flight attendants to leave the parking lot with their vehicles marked as airport parked. Just as we avoid leaving marks in the galleys we work in; our vehicles should not be marked due to poor decisions made by the NY/NJ Port Authority and a management team that appears indifferent.
EWR Hang Tags Displaying Your Full First and Last Names
Please use whatever you need to cover your name on the tag. I am requesting that new tags be issued to all who have parking permits for EWR.
Lastly, I will reach out to some public officials regarding this matter and will publicly address the company for yet another failure as they embark on this journey with us. I want to emphasize that these issues are central to our safety as we navigate the airport and our neighborhoods. American Airlines must take full responsibility for any consequences these poor decisions have on any LGA Flight Attendant.
Please prioritize your safety and take care of one another. I will provide updates via the official base brief as soon as I have more information.
In Solidarity,
Christian M. Santana
