5.14.25 – APFA MIA Base Brief – Return of Service and Commuter City Updates

Return of Service and Commuter City Updates
Wednesday, May 14, 2025
The Company announced yesterday the return of the domestic second service and IPD pre-meal beverage without adjusting staffing levels back to pre-pandemic standards. Flight Attendants have proven time and time again that we are customer service professionals, willing to provide passengers with the level of service we would want ourselves.
Just over a year ago, Inflight leadership sat in front of an Arbitrator and stated, “There are no plans to expand the service footprint. If I could, I would put a red line through it,” in an effort to justify the lack of staffing restoration. Yet yesterday, with no regard for the already increasing workload, they abruptly send out this message to Flight Attendants—without warning.
Coincidentally, yesterday was also the day Flight Attendants saw their first pay statement reflecting boarding/sit rig pay. APFA leadership met on May 13th to discuss options moving forward in response to this announcement. Please know that I will continue to address this issue with American Airlines until a suitable resolution is reached.
If you would like to share your concerns with the Company regarding the return of service without proper staffing, you can contact:
- Heather Garboden, Senior Vice President, Chief Customer Officer: [email protected]
- Bobbi Wells, Vice President, Inflight — [email protected]
- Tim McMahan, Managing Director, Inflight Dining and Service — [email protected]
Attention Commuters!
The Company has begun reviewing address and commuter city information for every Flight Attendant in the system. If you have an address listed in the Miami area, Inflight will be removing your commuter city from DECS, as your address reflects a local residence.
Current Company policy requires that your address in DECS matches your commuter city. However, if you live in an area with access to multiple airports, you may list more than one commuter city.
If you need to update your address, please contact your Crew Manager or the Crew Service Center. To change your commuter city, a form is available in Comply365.
In Solidarity,
