5.16.25 – APFA LGA Base Brief – New Jersey Transit Strike

New Jersey Transit Strike
Friday, May 16, 2025
Engineers at New Jersey Transit went on strike early this morning after final negotiations between the state-run commuter rail service and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET), which represents approximately 450 members, failed to reach a last-minute agreement. The two sides are scheduled to return to the negotiating table by Sunday morning.
We want to ensure that Flight Attendants on reserve who may be called to EWR, those who already have scheduled trips, or are currently on a trip, and use mass transit to get home, have information about alternative transportation options from the airport.

If you have any evidence, such as photos or screenshots, please include those in your email to your managers. Additionally, be sure to copy us on that email at [email protected].
While any disruption to mass transit can be a significant inconvenience, APFA stands in Solidarity with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, representing over 2.3 million hardworking people in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) deserve a fair contract. We hope that a mutually acceptable agreement will avert a strike.
Please fly safely and take care of one another.
