5.18.25 – APFA LGA Base Brief – Congratulations on Your Retirement Susie Wallace!

Sunday, May 18, 2025

Yesterday, New York-based Flight Attendant Susan Wallace completed her final working flight from Milan, Italy, to JFK International Airport in New York, marking the end of her impressive fifty-five-year career with American Airlines.
Susie is a cherished figure at American Airlines, known for her passion for the profession and her advocacy for her colleagues as a member and representative of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA). Throughout her career, she held various roles in APFA, including National Health Representative and EAP Representative, and founded the Peer Support Program incorporated into the Critical Incident Stress Management program.
In 2014, she received both the APFA Cindy Horan Award and the American Airlines Chairman’s Award for her vital assistance to a severely injured Flight Attendant, ensuring timely medical care—actions that transcended corporate limitations.
Beyond the airline, Susie dedicated over twenty years to serving as a paramedic in Connecticut, also working as a CPR instructor and a Connecticut State EMS Examiner.
As I began my journey as a local base representative, Susie warmly welcomed me during Crew Resource Management Training, showcasing effective communication vital for safety. Her dedication has always inspired me as I advanced to become the LGA Base President.
Congratulations, Susie Wallace, on your retirement! Your legacy of kindness and service has positively impacted me and many, and we are grateful for everything you’ve done. Thank you for paving the way for future generations of Flight Attendants.
In Unity and Solidarity,
Christian M. Santana
LGA Base President
