7.07.25 – APFA PHL Base Brief – August 2025 Staffing and Allocations

August 2025 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Monday, July 7, 2025
Hello PHL,Our Allocations call was held on Thursday, July 3rd.
August is the transition from summer peak flying to the back-to-school slowdown. The schedule change this month will be on 06AUG. The distribution of trip types will stay pretty consistent. We will see some longer sit times at 3+ hours. Which does give some opportunity for Sit Rig pay. With these changes, though, we will see some slightly longer layovers. There are fewer 11- and 12-hour layovers.
Don’t forget that 01SEP is Labor Day. So the last weekend of this month will build into that. Holiday reductions begin on 22AUG with incremental flying add back for 29AUG-01SEP. Bid accordingly.
ALLOCATIONS
We are down some hours as summer winds down. The total is 161,551. This is a little less but expected.
NEW HIRES
There will be no new hires this month.
RESERVES
As summer winds down the number of projected RSV F/A’s drops back down to 576 in August compared to 618 in July. The system-wide average is projected to be 22.8%. PHL is projected to be at 21.0%, that is a slight increase from August of last year which was 20.9%
STAFFING
August’s monthly line average is projected to be 78.7 hours, down from 82.7 hours in July. Systemwide, the line average is projected at 78.3 hours, down from 82.5 hours in July. These numbers are subject to change based on bidding behaviors.
There will be no Voluntary Leaves of Absence (VLOAs) offered for August.
SEQUENCE STATISTICSÂ
ODANs
ODANs have increased again for August. BGR, PIT, BTV, RDU, BDL, PWM, PVD, BOS and ATL are available to bid this month.
IPDThe Company is still deciding to staff DOH with 9 F/A’s for August. Should the Company return the #10 position, we will communicate how to bid for the position. (i.e. open time). This continues to be an unacceptable battle that we are still fighting!
NCE and EDI will upsize to a 787-9 beginning on 06AUG. There will be a positioning trip for one additional FA to both cities on 05AUG.
NIPD
There are some overnights we haven’t seen in the PHL base in quite a while plus some interesting ones not normally seen. They are as follows: STI, MEX, GUA, MDE, KIN, SJO, SDQ, BJX and BDA. Flight Attendants awarded these trips should familiarize themselves with customs policies at these airports as they can vary for crew.
DOMESTIC WIDEBODY FLYING
The only change we are seeing this month is that the MIA 2-day ends on 04AUG. *Please review each sequence before you bid. We are seeing multiple a/c downsizing and mixed crews on this type of domestic flying. When bidding in TTS/UBL/ETB, review the trip to look for these possible changes.
PIT SATELLITE
PIT has dropped 51 hours this month compared to July. The total is 4799 hours. Please remember that when you are awarded a satellite trip, it is your responsibility to get to PIT to start the trip and get home when the trip ends. The Company does NOT provide DH’s to and from PIT.
SOLIDARY ACTION TEAM
We are seeing a lot of opportunity to take action with other labor groups around Philadelphia. Many of you have asked about the SEPTA situation and how to help. There is also now the DC33 strike as well.
Jackie Zepeda and Paige Van De Winkle have started a Solidarity Action Team chat. You can join Signal with your fellow PHL APFA members! It is the best way to stay in the loop about local labor events and rallies. We coordinate meeting up and taking action in solidarity with the labor movement in our area.
Let’s stand in solidarity with our union siblings!
Join a picket! Join the 24/6 picket line at the airport at Terminal A West outside of ticketing, or Terminal F. Ask strikers what they might need and bring that! Common asks include: water bottles, ice, snacks, other drinks. A strike fund link will be shared on PHL APFA socials soon. Keep up to date by following the Instagram page, @PHLFAunity.
Do not utilize the city provided temporary trash drop off locations or go to the library, as that is considered crossing the picket line.
Contact the Mayor’s Office at (215) 686-2181 to express your support for DC33 municipal workers.
