10.19.25 – APFA ORD Base Brief – Sunday, October 19, 2025

Happy October, Chicago!
Summer flew by, and we are already halfway through October. There are a lot of changes happening with the CBA being implemented. Be sure to review the latest CBA Implementation Updates and stay current.
Social Media
In today’s day and age, social media is an accepted part of all our lives. We use it to share moments with friends and family and stay up to date with others.
Even though American Airlines has a Social Media Policy that encourages posting, “We want you to be proud of where you work and share great moments with your friends and colleagues. Posting things when in uniform or on company property is fine…”
Posting something in uniform creates a “connection” to American Airlines, which tethers you to the company.
In fact, any digital connection to American Airlines means you are connected to American Airlines, even if it is small or distant. LinkedIn from 10 years ago? Connection. Photo in your uniform when you graduated training? Connection. These connections then tether us to other American Airlines’ policies that are extremely broad.
The unfortunate part is that we should be proud of where we work. We should want to showcase where we spend our time away from our family and friends. Unfortunately, creating any association with American Airlines can open you up to violations of any company policy, and there are many, with extremely broad language that can cover almost anything.
Bottom line: you might be better off removing anything that directly references American Airlines to avoid a “connection” that could lead to discipline or investigation.
Notification of Delay – CBA.10.J.11
Until the ability to acknowledge a delay electronically is implemented in ECS, Crew Scheduling is obligated to call if you are delayed prior to report. If they call three hours or more before departure and speak to you or leave a voicemail, the new report time applies. If Crew Scheduling calls less than three hours to departure, you have the option to accept the new report time or maintain the original report time. Contact Crew Scheduling if you are unable to sign in at your original report time
Transportation Reimbursement – CBA 6.C.4
As a reminder, the CBA provides for reimbursement if the flight you are scheduled to operate terminates after 2300 but was scheduled to block in prior to 2300. You must submit a receipt through the applicable form in Comply365.
At a crew base, a Flight Attendant will be allowed actual transportation charges substantiated by receipts if the flight on which they are assigned terminates between 2300 and 0600 as a result of late operation.
The language speaks to the flight termination, not the conclusion of the debrief.
ROTA Acknowledgement
With the creation of ECS, we now have a tool that provides proof and receipts when confirming reserve assignments. Recently, there have been instances where confirmations were made but not reflected with Crew Scheduling.
Once you have confirmed your assignment, check ECS for a receipt showing the time of acknowledgement, just in case there are any issues later about whether it was confirmed.
- In ECS: ROTA/ROTD > “Expand Details” under your RSV assignment will show times when you were assigned and acknowledge the assignment.
If you are on RSV and confirm an assignment in Crew Portal, it is suggested you allow the system a moment to process this acknowledgment and refresh the screen.
