Twenty-Four Years Later — We Still Remember. We Will Always.

On November 12, 2001, just two months after 9/11, our American Airlines family suffered another devastating loss when Flight 587 crashed shortly after takeoff from JFK, claiming the lives of 260 souls on board and five on the ground.

Time has passed and much has changed, yet the memory of those we lost continues to lift us higher. They will always be part of who we are, part of what makes New York resilient, and part of why we continue to show up for one another, no matter how much time goes by.

A Tradition of Honor and Reflection

This year marks my fifth year representing New York at the memorial, and I am deeply honored to continue this tradition alongside Megan Blanchard, our Base Vice President. Together, we pay tribute to the Flight Attendants we lost that day, their families, and every one of us who continues to carry their legacy forward with pride and respect.

APFA LGA Base Council members will gather at the memorial site for American Airlines Flight 587 in Belle Harbor, Rockaway, NY.

All Flight Attendants, Pilots, Mechanics, Agents, Ramp Agents, American Airlines employees, their families, and friends are invited to join us.
