Joint Base Town Hall Recap

On November 11, we hosted our first Joint Base Town Hall in New York. This was an event that gave members a chance to engage directly with multiple departments within management. For the council, it was an important step toward creating smaller, issue-focused virtual town halls where we can work directly with departments to address and resolve the day-to-day challenges Flight Attendants face on the line. We plan to complete the editing on the recording to upload it to the APFA LGA base page.

We’re grateful to the management team for their participation and support, which opened the door for stronger collaboration and meaningful improvements to our members’ quality of life.

Looking ahead, Megan and I plan to meet with management quarterly to continue these conversations and host productive virtual sessions that focus on real solutions.

The LGA Base Council would like to express our gratitude to National Officers Julie Hedrick, Erik Harris, and Josh Black for their support. We also want to thank Bobbi Wells for her commitment to collaborating with us on this initiative, which we believe will benefit Flight Attendants in New York and throughout the entire system.

Where Are the Allocations Updates?

As many of you know, I began sharing allocations updates in a more engaging format—something reminiscent of the old bid packets but tailored specifically to our base. While this process takes considerable time and our team has been working with a reduced budget, I’ve heard from many of you that you’d like these updates to continue.

Rather than duplicating information the company releases just days after we receive it, we’ll focus on what’s most useful to you. Beginning with the January bid month, we’ll resume a brief staffing and allocations summary, highlighting only the key changes from the previous month.

Once it’s posted, we welcome your feedback at [email protected]—your input helps us make each update more meaningful and relevant to you.

Holiday Pay

Holiday Pay Reminder

Per CBA 3.K, Flight Attendants (both Lineholders and Reserves) will receive Holiday Pay for any flight leg that touches a designated holiday—no matter how the trip was picked up.

Holiday Pay equals an extra 100% of your base hourly rate, paid on the greater of scheduled or actual hours flown (including reschedules).

  • For Reserves, it’s paid above guarantee.
  • For Lineholders, it’s pay only (no credit) and does not affect your TTS max.

The following nine days are designated holidays:

  • Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day (November 26, 2025)
  • Thanksgiving Day (November 27, 2025)
  • Sunday following Thanksgiving (November 30, 2025)
  • Monday following Thanksgiving (December 1, 2025)
  • December 24
  • December 25
  • December 26
  • December 31
  • January 1

For a list of Q&A regarding specific scenarios on when you do or don’t get holiday pay, please see the recent APFA Hotline on Holiday Pay Reminders.

Hotel Sign-in Procedures – Changes

We’ve heard from several members about changes to hotel check-in procedures at some properties. The new process, introduced by American’s new hotel vendor (API), now requires Flight Attendants to write in specific personal information instead of using pre-filled sign-in sheets, mainly on IPD layovers.

I’ll be working closely with Lisa Oxentine and the Hotels Department to address concerns raised by members and ensure your privacy and personal information remain protected. There’s no known issue or security threat currently, but we want to stay proactive and ahead of any potential risk.
We’ll share updates as this discussion continues.

2026 Annual Benefits Enrollment

Reminder: Open Enrollment for 2026 Benefits closes Wednesday,  November 19 at 11:59 PM CT.

When you log into Jetnet, use the tools in the enrollment portal to review your options carefully.

If you don’t make any changes, your 2025 coverage will roll over, but your premiums may not stay the same. Take a few minutes to review your benefits and the information sent by management to ensure you’re making the best choice for you.

Union Representation

Reminder: You have the right to Union representation any time management contacts you about an issue that could lead to discipline.

Customer complaints are part of the performance program and can have serious consequences, even if the request seems routine or comes by email.

Please do not respond to these emails before consulting your local Union reps at [email protected].

American Airlines Legal Team Seeking Information from APFA Members

American Airlines’ Legal Department is not exempt from the investigative process outlined in our contract.

If you receive a call or email from any AA legal representative, do not respondbefore consulting your Union. Contact us immediately at [email protected]. Any urgency expressed in those messages belongs to the company, not you.

The LGA Base Council continues to cooperate with all departments, but we will not accept any attempt to bypass your right to Union representation. You are never required to reply to management or legal inquiries without first speaking to your local Union rep.

Transitioning Bag Sizers Out of the Gate Area

On September 30th, management announced that bag sizers would be removed from gate areas. We’ve raised safety concerns with both APFA Safety and management, as this may lead to more oversized bags entering the cabin and potentially delay an evacuation in an emergency.

Please remember: Flight Attendants are not required to lift customers’ bags.

  • If a bag cannot fit safely in the overhead or under a seat, use Teams to notify the gate agent.
  • Leads and Pursers should ensure the cabin is secure before the aircraft door is closed.
  • File a CERS and FA Report if bag issues cause delays.

You may voluntarily submit a Cabin ASAP report to identify safety concerns to the FAA. Questions or concerns? Contact us at [email protected].

Reserve Reminder

Reserves are required to acknowledge ROTA assignments by 2230 HBT, or within an hour of release if flying during the acknowledgement period. Reserves with a RAP are required to check Crew Portal at the start of their RAP and acknowledge any assignment. Reserves on a RAP starting before 0500 do not need to acknowledge at the start of RAP. Scheduling is required to call for assignments made during a RAP. Scheduling will no longer call if Reserves do not acknowledge when required.

Please double-check that your assignment is acknowledged in Crew Portal. We’ve seen cases where the acknowledge button had connectivity issues, leading to missed trips.

Always check for any system banner alerts about technical issues before logging out.

If you did acknowledge but are later flagged for a missed trip, contact your Crew Attendance Manager and copy [email protected] on your email.

Please Fly Safe and take care of One Another.
