1.05.26 – APFA BOS Base Brief – February 2026 Staffing and Allocations

February 2026 Staffing and Allocations

Monday, January 5, 2026

Hello Boston!

The monthly staffing and allocations call for Feb 2026 took place on the 3rd and here are the highlights.

Total headcount for the BOS Domicile remains steady at 821 (including inactive FA’s.) Total active headcount is 791. We are not receiving any new-hires for FEB, with that in mind, our projected reserve numbers are not expected to change.

February is a usually more calm month on the flight schedule. It is our first month free of holiday travel. Keep in mind we do have President’s Day weekend, as well as school vacations for K-12 for many cities and towns. This may impact bidding behaviors.

Our flying hours for February have increased slightly at 48,218, a 2% increase from the JAN bid month. This number is about a 15% YOY increase from February of 2025. Our reserve percentage drops to 13.9% after the winter holiday period.  It is also about a 0.3% drop from last year. We are expecting 110 flight attendants to serve reserve for February. This is a total decrease of 16 from the January ’25 bid month, as well as an increase of 9 from last year, as is expected with an increased headcount. We are expecting new hires on the line in March. We do not as of yet know how many, if any, will be coming to Boston.

We are expecting VLOA offered in February to 14 BOS Flight Attendants.

Boston will staff a morning two-day and red-eye three-day LAX transcon operation. Please note!! The flight times shift a few times throughout the month. Report and release times are different on some of the sequences.

LHR will operate for a majority of the month instead of taking a long pause as many are used to. There is however a couple of days where 108/109 do not operate. There is a 5-day LHR on the 1st of the month. A regular sequence on the 4th, and then a double deadhead to LHR through CLT on the 8th. Regular operations resume on the 9th of the month.

The PHX rocket will operate 16 times throughout the month. Starting the 12th, they operate every day except Tuesdays and Saturdays.

There are no ODAN’s in the bid packet.

We saw no charter sequences in the bid packet.

There is one (1) wide-body domestic trip however this is a standard domestic trip, not a charter or ferry sequence.

We do see an increase of our Florida flights. Particularly, around the start and end of the school vacation period. These flights are all mixed into our bid packet as turn, and as the start or end of multi-day sequences.

7.4% of our 3-days are sequences with two duty periods such as LHR, the LA red-eye, or trips with a release after midnight.

We hope you all had a pleasant and kind holiday season. As always, fly safe!

In Solidarity,
