2.02.26 – APFA MIA Base Brief – Town Halls: February 9 Storm Debrief/March 10 Miami Base General Meeting

Monday, February 2, 2026

Hello Miami Flight Attendants,

Over the past several weeks, many of you were significantly impacted by Winter Storm Fern and Winter Storm Gianna. These events exposed serious operational failures by the Company that disrupted schedules, pay, hotels, transportation, and basic support, at a time when Flight Attendants were already working under extremely challenging conditions.

In response, Miami Base leadership and representatives have shifted immediate focus to recovery efforts and member advocacy. During and following the storms, scheduled meetings with management were postponed so that all efforts could be directed toward addressing contractual violations, compensation issues, and accountability for what occurred. Those meetings are now being rescheduled and are actively underway.

Because of this shift, we are adjusting our upcoming MIA Base Meetings as follows:

  • Monday, February 9 (11 AM – 1 PM in the Conference Room Outside of MIA Ops)

This meeting will still take place but in a shortened format, focused specifically on a Winter Storm Fern & Gianna debrief.

We will review what occurred, discuss documented company failures, share guidance consistent with recent Miami and National hotlines, and outline next steps for Flight Attendants who were impacted.

  • Tuesday, March 10 – Miami Base General Meeting (11 AM – 1 PM in the Conference Room Outside of MIA Ops)

The full Miami Base General Meeting has been rescheduled to next month on March 10. This allows us to give proper time and attention to the wide range of topics originally planned—including base operations, reserve concerns, commuter issues, enforcement, and education—without minimizing the seriousness of the recent storms. We understand how important these discussions are, and we want to ensure they are addressed thoroughly and thoughtfully.

We recognize that many Flight Attendants remain understandably concerned and frustrated by the events of the past weeks. Please know that this adjustment is being made so your Base leadership can continue putting full effort into representing the membership, holding the Company accountable, and ensuring your questions are answered with accurate and up-to-date information.

We strongly encourage Flight Attendants to submit questions in advance for the February 9 Storm Debrief using the link that will be shared below. Submitting questions ahead of time will help ensure the most pressing issues are addressed during the meeting.

Member Resources & Next Steps

As a resource, Flight Attendants are strongly encouraged to review the National APFA Hotline outlining steps to follow and claims guidance related to Winter Storm Fern.
