Spending Account Deadlines

We are approaching the deadline to submit claims for our spending accounts: Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA), Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (LPFSA), Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA), Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), and Retiree Health Reimbursement Account (RHRA). Please visit My.AA.com for eligibility rules and details. Below are the carryover limits and deadlines for each account.
Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA)
Use It or Lose It – Limited Carryover
- Carryover allowed: Up to $660.
- Unused amounts exceeding $660 will be forfeited.
- Incur expenses by: December 31, 2025.
- Submit claims by: March 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM (CT).
- Eligible expenses include medical, dental, and vision costs such as copays, deductibles, prescriptions, glasses, contacts, orthodontia, medical supplies, and more.
Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (LPFSA)
Use It or Lose It – Limited Carryover
- Carryover allowed: Up to $660.
- Unused amounts exceeding $660 will be forfeited.
- Incur expenses by: December 31, 2025
- Submit claims by: March 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM (CT).
- LPFSA funds may only be used for qualified dental and vision expenses.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA)
Strict Use It or Lose It
- Incur expenses between: January 1, 2025 – March 15, 2026
- Submit claims by: March 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM (CT).
- No carryover permitted; remaining funds after March 31, 2026, will be forfeited.
- Eligible expenses include work-related childcare, preschool tuition, summer day camps (for children under age 13), before/after school programs, and qualifying elder care.
Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
Claims Filing Deadline for 2025 Expenses
- HRA credits carry over year to year.
- Claims for 2025 expenses must be submitted by: March 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM (CT).
- HRA funds may be used for qualified medical, dental, and vision expenses.
- Note: If enrolled in the Core medical option, your HRA is limited to dental and vision expenses only.
Retiree Health Reimbursement Account (RHRA)
- RHRA balances carry over year to year.
- Claims must be submitted within 365 days of the date of service.
- RHRA funds may be used for qualified medical, dental, and vision expenses for you and eligible dependents.
