February 2026 Mid-Month Brief

Hello Everyone,

As noted in the February Base Brief, we are transitioning to a new schedule featuring two briefings per month. This change is designed to provide more timely information and allow for a more focused discussion on the issues impacting our base.

The new structure will be as follows:

  • Early-Month Brief: This session will focus on Allocations, including staffing levels, route adjustments, reserve numbers, and essential bidding information.
  • Mid-Month Brief: This session will cover “Hot Topics” and emerging base-specific issues.

By splitting these updates, we can better address time-sensitive operational data at the start of the month while dedicating a separate space to address your feedback and concerns more thoroughly.
Thank you for your continued engagement.

Miami Base Reps can be reached by text or call at 954.890.2732, or email at [email protected]. Please utilize these contacts for the fastest response to an issue. The central contact allows us to send your question or concern to the first available representative.

Allow Double-Up by Range

The next PBS bidding property is ready for implementation! Available in PBS now for March bidding, Allow Double-Up by Range (CBA 10.D.13.d.38) tells PBS to allow a double-up on a range of dates. This property is in addition to the already existing property allowing a double-up on a specific date. By adding this new property, Flight Attendants will no longer need to repeatedly select the single-date, double-up option when applying double-ups across multiple days, making the process more efficient and user-friendly.

This property acts like a waiver and allows double-ups to be awarded. It does not force double-ups to be awarded.

As a reminder, a Double-Up consists of two sequences within the same duty day with a minimum of 30 minutes between the release time of the first sequence and the report time of the second sequence (CBA 2.N) For information on double-ups, refer to APFA.org.

Property Details

Allow Double-Up by Range can be used multiple times in a layer and is a persistent property meaning that once bid it applies to all subsequent layers.

Ex. If you bid Allow Double-Up by Range Between February 1st and February 14th in Layer 4, this property will also apply to layers 5, 6, and 7.

PBS may award one or multiple double-ups in the range bid. The property does not guarantee an award; it allows the system to award a double-up in this range.

  • To bid this property, access the Line tab in PBS and select Allow Double-Up by Range
  • Select the dates you would like to bid as a range.

  • Select the layer you would like to bid this property. Remember, this is a persistent property and will apply to all subsequent layers whether you select them. Click add this bid to complete.
  • Remember to fill out a Support Tab for any questions on your PBS award at Crew Portal > Links > Support > Support Tab.

Stay tuned for updates on our final new PBS property Prefer Position Order by Aircraft and mock bidding in the next few months!

Quarterly Training and Training Missed Assignments (MA)

The Company just launched the first quarterly training for 2026.  Due date is to complete by April 10.

As we all know, the Company subscribes to the theory that more points and discipline is the best way to manage a workgroup.

Their latest target is Missed Assignments for Quarterly Training. They are now issuing an MA for each week past the deadline, until the training is completed. After two, an advisory is potentially issued.

Notice of Dispute (NOD) Filing Request Form

A Notice of Dispute (NOD) is defined as a dispute between a Flight Attendant(s) and the Company involving any action of the Company affecting the Flight Attendant. The NOD can refer to contract violations, company policy, disciplinary actions, pay discrepancy issues, or other workplace concerns. In these cases, you may have the option to file a NOD.

We have created a new APFA Notice of Dispute (NOD) Filing Request Form. Please note that completing this form does not officially file a NOD. Use this form if you would like a Base Representative to review your case for a potential NOD. Your information will be forwarded to your APFA Base Union Representative for evaluation.

Please include any steps you have already taken with your Crew Manager and the outcomes of those discussions. Contact your Crew Manager before submitting this form.

Once your form is received, the Base Representative will review it and contact you to evaluate your case to consider filing a NOD.

Step 1 – APFA Base Representative files a Notice of Dispute (NOD) with their Crew Manager, Crew Attendance/Performance Manager, on behalf of the Flight Attendant.

  • APFA Rep will begin Informal discussions with Management to try and resolve the dispute.
  • If those discussions are successful, the NOD is resolved with a settlement.
  • If no resolution is reached, a Dispute Resolution Conference is scheduled.

Step 2 – Dispute Resolution Conference (DRC)

  • The Base Representative will schedule the DRC with local management. This meeting is for the Flight Attendant and the APFA Rep to present the case.
  • If an agreement is reached, the NOD will be considered resolved with a settlement.
  • If the parties are unable to resolve the issue following the DRC, the NOD may be submitted to the Grievance Determination Conference.

Step 3 – If no settlement is reached at the DRC, the case leaves the Base and moves forward to the Regional Representative and the System Board of Adjustment (SBA), where it will be reviewed.  If you’d like more details on the entire process, please see the links below.

Professional Standards and EAP

Professional Standards and EAP calls now go through the hotline at 833.214.2002.

Please use Professional Standards for issues that can’t be resolved on the airplane. Keep it out of the office.

If you need to speak with Professional Standards mid-sequence to keep a situation from escalating, please call. If a dispute arises mid-sequence that cannot be resolved and a crew member removes themselves from the trip, Inflight becomes involved and an investigation ensues. This is what we always hope to avoid.
