5.08.26 – APFA BOS Base Brief – June 2026 Staffing and Allocations

June 2026 Staffing and Allocations

Friday, May 8, 2026

Hello Boston!

The monthly staffing and allocations call for June 2026 took place on the 3rd. Here are the highlights.

Total headcount for BOS remains steady, climbing slightly to 858 (including inactive FA’s.) Total active headcount is up to 836.

Summer flying is here! June marks our first month of the summer operation.

Our flying hours for June remain steady at 54,401. This number is about a 2% increase from the same month last year. Our reserve percentage climbs to 18.1%, a 3.8% increase from the prior month, and a 0.2% decrease year-over-year. This increase is large, however, rather standard, as we enter the summer peak with the summer schedule ramp-up. There will be 151 flight attendants serving reserve in Boston in June. An increase of 32 from the month prior, and up 3 from the year prior. Even with the increased reserves, we are on par, if not slightly below, our reserve percentage from this month last year. This is due to your continued hard work.

New Hires!

The last full month of training for the year continues down at HQ. Boston is expected to welcome our last 7 new hires for the year in June. As far as we know, this is the last remaining batch to join in 2026. Crew Planning has informed us that there are no current plans for additional new-hire classes in the fall.

VLOA

There will be no VLOAs offered for June, and we do not expect any leaves to be offered for the remainder of the summer flying season.

June Sequence Construction Breakdown

LAX-BOS crews will return to staffing 3 LAX sequences daily as the flight schedule increases to 4 daily. Boston will staff two two-day sequences and a three-day red-eye return sequence. There are several departure time variations until the full schedule change on the 7th. If operating, please keep an eye on your report times!

LHR- will operate daily throughout the month. In June, the return flight continues to depart at 10:05 local. This keeps the scheduled RON time at 24.20. It is my understanding that Boston will keep this earlier departure slot until at least October 25th.

The PHX rocket will operate every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday in June.

Our DCA ODAN will continue to operate every day, except Fridays and Saturdays.

There are no domestic wide-body sequences in May.

The sequence construction is as follows;

Of our 3-day sequences, 6.6% are 2-duty-period trips, such as LHR, LAX red-eyes, and sequences that release after midnight.

As always, fly safe!
