There is not a lot to report this week, a welcome change compared to the events of the last few months.
An important message for all Reserve Flight Attendants:
Please be aware that Management is misapplying Article 10.D.2. and Appendix I, Article 10.D.2 of the contract, which pertains to Reserves picking-up Optional Exchange trips. The Company has taken the position that, by picking up an OE trip, a Reserve Flight Attendant will automatically waive their 30-in-7 legalities for the remainder of their Reserve month. APFA is dismayed that the Company has chosen to blatantly violate our contract so soon. APFA will be filing a Presidential grievance on this issue. Please be advised, however, that until this issue is resolved that the Company does intend on continuing to waive the Reserve’s 30-in-7 in this instance. If you have picked up an OE on Reserve and have involuntarily had your 30-in-7 waived as a result, please contact the APFA Scheduling Desk at Headquarters, extension 8161.
The following information was inadvertently omitted from the latest edition of Skyword.
In accordance with the APFA Constitution, resumes are now being accepted for the following administrative and committee positions at the APFA:
- Ballot Committee members
- Budget Committee members
- Six (6) Division Representatives
- Communications Coordinator
- Scheduling Coordinator
- Contract Coordinator
- Safety Coordinator
- Health Coordinator
- Hotel Coordinator
These are two-year terms commencing either April 1, 2002, or May 2002, depending on the position. Resumes should be returned to the Office of the APFA Secretary no later than Friday, February 15, 2002.

As a reminder, there will be a meeting for all furloughed APFA members in the Chicago area on Wednesday, January 16, 2002, hosted by the Chicago APFA Reps from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Radisson O’Hare. This is located at 6810 Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Illinois. Representatives from the Illinois Department of Employment Services and APFA will be on hand to make presentations and answer questions.
