6.10.26 – 2025-2026 CQ Module Length Presidential Grievance

APFA has continued to push the Company for a remedy regarding the CQ Module Presidential Grievance. As part of the contractual process, we conducted our pre-arbitration conference with the Company.

8.15.25 – Update: Sit Rig Time & Pay Presidential Grievance/Sit Rig Overpayment CBA Section 11.D.6

American Airlines is violating the newly negotiated Sit Rig pay provisions in CBA 11.D.6. In July, APFA filed a Presidential Grievance calling on the company to abandon their blatant disregard for this hard-fought provision.

8.14.25 – CQ Module Presidential Grievance Filed: CBA Section 29.G

American Airlines is violating the contract by underestimating the time it takes to complete this year’s CQ WBTs. The company is refusing to compensate Flight Attendants for the actual time the modules require.

5.14.25 – AA Returns to Pre-Covid Onboard Services Without Adequate Staffing or Catering Supplies

This week, management announced a return to pre-COVID-19 service procedures despite testifying under oath that the post-pandemic changes were permanent. This reversal calls into question the integrity of American’s management

12.31.24 – Reduction in Staffing Grievance Arbitration Award

The Presidential Grievance on the 2020 staffing reductions has been denied. The award from the arbitrator may be found here. The arbitrator sided with the company to uphold the company’s staffing changes.

11.04.24 – Vice President SBA (Grievance) Update – Jury Duty

APFA is pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement on the APFA Jury Duty Presidential Grievance. This was a long-fought battle over the interpretation of Jury Duty pay post-PBS

8.14.24 – Reduction in Staffing Presidential Arbitration Update

We wanted to update you on the Reduction in Staffing Presidential Arbitration held in April. APFA and Company will submit closing briefs to the Arbitrator on August 16, 2024. Once the Arbitrator receives the closing briefs, they will review the case in its entirety and render their decision.

4.23.24 – Update: Reduction in Staffing Grievance Arbitration

Last Friday, APFA concluded the Reduction in Staffing Presidential Arbitration in New York. This staffing grievance, filed in 2020, was in response to American Airlines management’s unilateral decision to use the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent decrease in air travel demand as an excuse to reduce staffing

We would like to provide you with some updates to some of the Presidential Grievances filed by APFA. A Presidential Grievance is a dispute between APFA and the company involving any action of the company affecting all Flight Attendants.

1.09.24 – Staffing Presidential Arbitration

The Arbitrator assigned to hear our Staffing Presidential Arbitration on January 16th, 2024, has encountered a sudden family emergency, compelling the need to postpone the hearing.

10.20.23 – Jury Duty Presidential Grievance Filed: JCBA Section 3.G.2

You are contractually entitled to Jury Duty pay for days that conflict with any scheduled sequence, regardless of how you were awarded the trip (e.g., ETB, TTS, PBS).

10.18.23 – APFA Issues Notice of Cease and Desist to AA Management

Earlier this month, APFA filed a Presidential Grievance over management’s decision to disallow wearing APFA t-shirts with the Union logo when attending or traveling to/from training, violating JCBA 16.E. This week, APFA issued a Cease and Desist.

10.04.23 – Presidential Grievance Filed: Attire When Attending Or Traveling To/From Training

The Company recently issued a CCI message stating that Flight Attendants may not wear shirts with slogans when deadheading to/from CQ or other training sessions or while attending training. To be clear, a slogan is a distinctive motto, phrase, or statement that conveys a particular message or represents a brand.

5.19.23 – Carryover Sequences Presidential Grievance Settlement

APFA is pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement on the Carryover Sequences Presidential Arbitration scheduled for June. This hard-fought settlement provides pay protections that APFA has always believed Flight Attendants qualified for under the JCBA.

12.08.22 – FMLA Caregiver Presidential Grievance Settlement

As previously reported, the APFA SBA Department prepared for the FMLA Caregiver Presidential Grievance scheduled for December 6, 2022. After numerous discussions, the parties were able to settle.
