Government to Reopen for 3 Weeks – Keep our Skies Safe!

President Trump announced today that he would agree to end the government shutdown and fund the government through February 15th. Further discussions and negotiations on how to secure our southern border will take place once the government has reopened. The President promised that federal workers will quickly receive full backpay.

We beleve this shutdown was unnecessary and caused undue stress to large numbers of federal workers as well as the general public. We hope that during the next three weeks the Congress and the President will move forward to find a permanent solution so that government workers are never held hostage again. APFA praises the union members of AFGE, NATCA and our other impacted unions for making sacrifices and continuing to do the critical work to keep our skies safe.

Thank you to all our APFA members who took the time to call your legislators to end the shutdown. We must never jeopardize aviation safety and security.

APFA Government Affairs will continue to meet with members of Congress to ensure that a permanent solution is put in place so that this does not happen again.
