Exclusive Supplemental Benefit Offering

Aflac®, APL, and our Supplemental Benefits Program

The exclusive supplemental benefit offering for all APFA members is now open and ends on September 23rd. American Public Life (APL) will join Aflac® as a supplemental benefits administrator for upcoming insurance offerings. APL is an AM Best A+ Superior Rated insurance company offering a wide range of worksite products.

Our supplemental benefits with Aflac® were up for renewal. We looked into enhancing our products for this year’s APFA benefit offering. After our negotiations with a variety of insurance companies, APL had the best offering for some of our products, while some products will remain with Aflac®. APFA will continue to use our collective bargaining power to negotiate the best products and rates for our membership.

Some of the APL enhancements include on-the-job injury coverage for disability. APL does not have a 9-month waiting period to pay disability benefits once you have purchased a policy, and there is no pre-existing condition clause for their Hospital Benefit, which includes pregnancy. APL added infectious disease riders to their critical illness coverage to better protect our membership. And lastly, APL gave us a 3-year rate guarantee to assist our membership with their finances.
