Daylight Saving Time 2024:
It’s Time to Spring Forward

Saturday, March 9, 2024

Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts for most of the U.S. tomorrow, Sunday, March 10, at 2:00 am local time.

The Sunshine Protection Act is a proposed United States federal law that would make daylight saving time permanent. Congress has made multiple efforts to pass the bill but failed. The current bill would end the practice of turning the clocks back one hour to standard time every November. Daylight saving time would become permanent should the bill pass the Senate and the House and be signed into law.

States can exempt themselves from daylight saving time, meaning they stay in standard time for the entire year. Most of Arizona (except for the Navajo Nation), Hawaii, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not observe daylight saving time.

Daylight saving time ends on the first Sunday of November each year. This year, clocks will “fall back” on Sunday, November 3.
