Compensation for Hotel Delays (6.B.5)
- In the event of a schedule modification (reschedule, cancellation or other schedule change) which necessitates a hotel room, the Company will provide a hotel assignment.
- If the Company fails to notify the Flight Attendant of a hotel assignment within one (1) hour from the later of block-in at actual layover city or schedule modification*, the Flight Attendant shall be paid at the rate of one hundred and fifty percent (150%) and credited at one hundred percent (100%) for the duty period preceding the layover.
- If the Company fails to notify the Flight Attendant of a hotel assignment within three (3) hours from the later of block-in at actual layover city or schedule modification*, the Flight Attendant shall be paid at the rate of one hundred and fifty percent (150%) and credited at one hundred percent (100%) for the entire sequence instead of the duty period.
*Note:
- After report, the company has three (3) hours from the disruption or four (4) hours from report, whichever is later, to modify your sequence (10.J.3).
- Mid-sequence, the company must reschedule you within three (3) hours after the disruption (10.J.4).
Eligible Flight Attendants will need to submit a claim via Direct Connect in Crew Portal.
Example #1
I am scheduled to work ORD-DFW-SAN with an overnight in SAN. Before leaving ORD, I am rescheduled to layover in DFW. After landing in DFW, I still have not been notified of my hotel room.
- Crew Scheduling has one (1) hour from my block-in to notify me of my hotel assignment, or I am eligible for penalty pay of 150% for the duty period preceding the layover.
- If Crew Scheduling has not notified me of my hotel assignment within three (3) hours from block-in at DFW, I am eligible for penalty pay of 150% for the entire sequence.
Example #2
I am scheduled to work ORD-DFW-SAN with an overnight in SAN. While flying ORD-DFW, the DFW-SAN portion cancels. I am now subject to ‘After Origination’ rescheduling outlined in Section 10.J.4. During my three (3) hour rescheduling window, I am notified that I am laying over in DFW tonight.
- Crew Scheduling must notify me of my hotel assignment within one (1) hour of this notification. If not, I am eligible for the penalty pay of 150% for the duty period preceding the layover.
- If Crew Scheduling has not notified me of my hotel assignment within three (3) hours of the rescheduling notification, I am eligible for penalty pay of 150% for the entire sequence, rather than for the duty period.
If one of these examples applies to you, and you secure your own hotel room, you will still be paid as specified above.
Transportation/ Hotel Issues (6.B.6)
- If APFA identifies issues with hotel assignments or transportation (e.g., incidents of unreasonable failures or delays in hotel provision or transportation), the APFA’s National Hotel Chair may request to meet to discuss the concerns. If the parties determine a problem exists, the Company will develop a plan to address the issue(s).
Expansion of Crew Schedule Error Language (10.T)
- Procedures for misawards in PBS, TTS, UBL, ROTA/D and ETB are now included in the contract.
- Expanded Crew Scheduling Error language now includes errors after report (prior JCBA was only after origination of the sequence).
Cartels (10.V.1)
- Language has been added to prevent misuse of the scheduling systems (TTS, UBL and ETB). APFA and the company will meet to determine the metrics that will be considered to prevent abuse.
- Flight Attendants abusing the systems may be restricted from utilizing TTS, UBL, and ETB.
Definition of a Completed Trip (11.D.2.b)
- For aircraft that have taken off and land again at the airport (or co-terminal) of original departure for any reason and no further flying is performed within the duty period, it is considered a completed sequence for the purpose of Duty Period Minimum Guarantee.
- A completed trip triggers a minimum of five (5) hours flight time, or a minimum of three (3) hours pay and credit, depending on the sequence.
