After many items were implemented on Date of Signing (October 1st, 2024), the Contract Implementation Committee (CIC) was fully seated and active beginning November 1st to begin the task planning and implementation of our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Here is an overview of some of the items we have worked on so far (click on all images to enlarge):
Compensation for Hotel Delays (Section 6.B.5)
CBA 6.B.5 entitles a Flight Attendant to compensation when experiencing a delay in hotel assignment. In the event the company fails to notify you of your hotel assignment within one hour of the block-in at the layover city or reschedule/modification, whichever is later, fill out a Direct Connect on Crew Portal > Links > Direct Connect to have your case reviewed and paid accordingly. Once the claim is approved and processed, the line item HTLDELAYÂ will be added below the sequence on your HI1 as shown here:
Definition of a Completed Trip (11.D.2)
An improvement to 11.D.2 allows that if an aircraft returns to the gate at the original airport or co-terminal of departure (origination or mid-sequence) for any reason, this will be considered a completed trip and trigger the minimum guarantee rig (11.D.1). Crew Comp receives a list of air-interruptions and will manually add the rig time as either a PD PROJ line item on the HI1 for Lineholders and Reserves on reserve days or GUARPREM line item for Reserves on days off.
RAP D Release (Section 12.G.1)
In compliance with CBA 12.G.1, a Reserve on RAP D may call to be released from their RAP once all departures are airborne and there are no known diversions or returning flights. The easiest way to check and be released is the following:
- Using DECS, after signing in use the entry GILDISWADbase (ex: GILDISWADPHL for PHL) to bring up upcoming departures. If the list is blank, all known departures are airborne.
- Call Crew Scheduling to be released by calling 800-VIP-CREWÂ and:
- Press # for departments,
- 3 for Crew Scheduling,
- 7 to request to be released from RAP.
- Advise the Scheduler that all known departures have left, and you are requesting to be released from RAP D. The Scheduler will confirm if all flights have departed and that there are no known returning flights or diversions. If all flights have departed and there are no known returning flights or diversions, the Scheduler will release you and should modify your RAP to end at the time of the phone call.
We anticipate automation of this process when Electronic Communications Systems (CBA10.W) is implemented at a later date.
Charters Not Boarding at a Terminal Gate (Section 18.E)
When a Charter does not board at a terminal gate, a Flight Attendant will have a report time of two hours prior to departure and be given 1.15 of additional flight pay and credit for the sequence. This additional pay is shown as a separate line item CHRTNTRM on the HI1 as shown below:
Updates to Mutual Transfer Processing (Section 22)
What has changed with Mutual Transfers?
Previously, mutual transfers were processed in a simple one-for-one match allowing two Flight Attendants to swap bases. These pairs were processed in seniority order until no more one-for-one matches could be made between the two bases.
Now, the mutual transfer requests from Flight Attendants are processed in chains which allow matches between bases, including multiple Flight Attendants, without changing the base headcount. This process allows more mutual transfers to be awarded while honoring seniority and without creating a vacancy in a base. (CBA 22.K.1)
What else changed?
Additional changed language in CBA Section 22 includes:
- Mutual transfer request close date of the 26th of the month at 1200 DFW time and award date of the 28th of the month at 1200 DFW time are now firm dates (CBA 22.K.3-4).
- A vacancy transfer award will no longer be rescinded. Once a vacancy transfer is granted, it will no longer be rescinded for any reason, including a change to inactive status (CBA 22.D.4).
- Memorialized practice for Probationary Flight Attendants may be awarded one transfer while on Probation (Either vacancy or mutual) (CBA 22.L.2).
!Buddy Bidding Reminder!
Buddy bidding is a non-contractual process offered by the company for vacancy transfers ONLY. If you choose to buddy bid a transfer, please be aware that you may be awarded a mutual transfer without your designated buddy bidder.
Crew Rest Significant Malfunctions (Section 38.I)
What seats am I entitled to if the designated Crew Rest area is unusable?
*An aisle seat will be provided, if no aisle seat is available the last row of MC will be provided (CBA 38.I.4)
What is considered an unusable Crew Rest Seats/Bunks? (CBA 38.I.5)
Any of the following:
- Crew Rest Seat has no recline or the seat cushion is missing.
- There is no oxygen access.
- (NEW)Â Infestation with insects or other pests.
Who will block these seats?
If known prior to 24 hours of departure, the Day of Departure team will block the seats needed. If within 24 hours of departure, the Agent will block the seats.
Who should I contact if the Agent is not issuing the correct seats within 24 hours of departure?
Call Inflight Operations Support/IOS (formerly Daily Ops) at 682-315-7070 to facilitate blocking the required rest seats with the Agent.
